The Role
I loved my internship at PwC. I was given the opportunity to go and work in South Africa for part of my internship and was a great insight into working in a consulting environment. Would definitely recommend PwC as a place to work to other people.
Felt like a valued member of the team. When I was asked to do a present a task to a few colleagues, most the team came to watch the presentation to show support. Knew the whole team on the project and made some good friends whilst working on the internship.
If there was a topic that I thought was difficult there's a lot of information on PwC's online resources. I was assigned a People Manager at the start of the internship who I set goals with based on skills I wanted to develop on the internship. We spoke fornightly and my People Manager was very approachable. Also assigned a buddy who kept us to up to date on what the other graduates were doing for social ocasions.
I've listened to friends before who've done internships and complained they didn't have anything to do. I never had that problem at PwC as I always had a task that I could work on. These were organised tasks which served a purpose to my learning and development at PwC.
A lot. Recieved all the perks that a graduate would recieve such as a company laptop etc. This enabled a high level of responsability when working. With the ability to work on client sites both in the UK and South Africa. At PwC I was given a high level of responsability.
Improved work ethic form working at PwC. A lot of practise presenting ideas to a group in a professional way. Networking was a skill greatly enhanced through working at PwC. Access to PwC's learning and develop portal and I developed general consulting skills and insights into various industrys.
The Company
Everyone hotdesks. There's no set seats or offices for anyone. On a day to day basis I was working sat next to a director/ senior manager. The office was colourful, had free coffee, and was an area that I could focus in. Positive atmostphere and I enjoyed going to work.
Very well structured. All interns stayed have a residenital training at the start of the internship. Where you'll meet people from all lines of service. This was particularly useful in getting to knows lots of people and being trained for the role. Finish on a Dragons Den presentating on the final week where you'll get the opportunity to meet everyone again. It was organised in terms of tasks provided, the support given, and structure of the programme.
Online portal full of information relating to the work you're doing, industry insights, and skill development. Attended a conference on creative thinking provided by PwC. Focus on developing the five key PwC Professional attributes throughout the internship.

The Culture
I was based in Manchester, the accomadation was affordable and less than 20 minutes to commute. When working in South Africa PwC provided hotel accommadation and other staff members were living in the hotel so we shared an uber to work. I regularly went out in Manchester as I was new to the area and thought it was reasonable priced.
A lot of staff socials. Regularly went for drinks with other staff members. The opportunities are there to get to know lots of people. Before starting the internship you'll be added to a Facebook group where you can see the other interns before you start. There's also various Diversity groups that you're able to join to meet others. I joined the PwC GLEE group (Gay,Lesbian, and Everyone Else)
