The Role
My year with PwC was an amazing experience. I got the chance to work with some very talented people and formed bonds with a great network of individuals.
When you enter the firm you are treated as an graduate employee. You are given the same level of responsibility and are expected to perform accordingly. It really gives you the opportunity to develop and maximise your year in placement.
As well as being supervised by your line manager and senior manager you are also assigned a people manager to look after your wellbeing and ensure you are content with your role and responsibilities
Due to the nature of the work you are involved in, e.g. project work. there are peaks and troughs across the year. But as a whole you are kept very busy as they value your contributions as highly as any other employee at your grade,
I was given quite a significant level of responsibility early on in my placement. having grasped the key technical skills early on I was able to step up and take a more pivotal role in the team, sometimes even leading client engagements.
I will definitely take the skills I learnt with me in my final year at university. I joined that Data Analytics team here in PwC and I have now opted to specialise into this during my final year so this knowledge and learning will come in extremely useful im sure.
The Company
The office here in Belfast is slightly smaller than the London based offices but I much prefered the atmosphere here. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere day to day is quite relaxed and there is always a good level of banter between you and your colleagues,
The placement was very well organised. We had several checkups with the recruitment team over the year. The rest of the time though you have your manager and people manager ensuring you get the most out of your year
When you first join PwC you undergo a 4 week training period that prepares you for you year. It is very extensive but will hold you in good stead for the rest of your time in the firm.

If you secure a placement and perform well through your year you have a very good chance of receiving a graduate offer for when you finish your degree.
The Culture
The social life was very good if you put yourself out there. I joined with a team of 8 placement 西瓜视频s and about 12 graduate joiners so you form a good social group, not to mention the connections you make across the rest of the firm.
Cost of living is low in Belfast. Most noticeably around accommodation costs there is a significant drop in comparison to costs in England.
There is quite a lot to do in Belfast in terms of bars, pubs and clubs, and you are never short of people to join you.
The onus is on yourself to put yourself out there and organise activities and socials but there are always others doing the same, but try your best to initiate a few outings.
