The Role
I really enjoyed my work placement. It was definitely more than what I originally expected. You could really tell the amount of effort that PwC puts into the summer internship program and it really did show. We were all sent on a 3 day residential which was a great start to the internship as it was a great opportunity to get to know other interns and have the chance to settle in to the firm and complete relevant training ready for the six weeks ahead.
I felt extremely valued by my fellow colleagues at PwC. I think that this is definitely what makes the firm so great, the people here are so nice and like minded. No matter how senior the person was, if you had a question or issue, everyone didn't mind helping you out. I never felt like I was just a summer intern throughout the six weeks and I genuinely felt like just another member of the team and I was treat like just another member of the team too. At times you have very silly questions as an intern but I wasn't made to feel bad for asking!
I felt that I was given a great level of support. Upon starting the firm we were assigned a buddy who was there to help us with some of the day to day issues that we had and basically just to have a friendly face and contact upon starting as mine contacted me before I was due to start. My people manager was also assigned to me to help track my progress throughout the whole six weeks and we had a few meetings of how I was getting on. I knew that if I had any issues or needed support I could turn to her. Or alternatively, any one within the firm were happy to help with any queries.
I felt that i was very busy on a daily basis but not overly busy as it was just the perfect balance. Even if at the time there was no work, there was always something that I could have been getting on with, including the internship challenge we were set at the beginning of the six weeks. Everyone was very happy to give you work if you did not have anything to be getting on with as it helped them out too.
I felt as though I was given a great amount of responsibility. On the jobs that I was on I was doing work that another PwC colleague would have been doing anyway. I genuinely just felt like another member of the team. I was surprised at the level of responsibility a summer intern got but it shows how you will be able to handle real work if you were to come back full time. Most of my work was also client facing so I was around clients quite a lot which was a great experience.
I have developed and learnt so many skills from being here. In just six weeks I have learnt more than what I would of thought. I felt as though I was thrown in the deep end quite a lot so the ability to pick up new skills and understanding quickly was essential but this meant I learnt a lot very quickly. In terms of my learning to support my degree this has definitely helped. I study Accountancy so I got to put into practice some of the things that I had learnt and i know this will help in my final year too
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was generally really good. Everyone was always really friendly. Usually, depending on the line of service you were in you would be on that certain floor but the office that I was in was getting ready to move down the road into new offices and this wouldn't be the case anymore, it would be more open plan and people from different service lines would be on one floor so it would have been even better after the move.
I felt the internship was very organised. You could tell the amount of effort that PwC puts into the summer internship programme. I was booked onto jobs in advance so people on my team always knew that I would be on the job with them, from my experience anyway, rather than turning up and them not knowing you were supposed to be there.
I felt they invested a lot in us. Obviously we weren't at the firm long enough to have lengthy training but they put on the residential for 3 days that provided some training for us and you were taught a lot by other colleagues on the job you were on. Being assigned to a people manager also showed they wanted to invest in our development in just the 6 weeks we were there

I would definitely return to the firm. I have been offered a graduate job for after I finish University and they told us generally quite quickly so we weren't waiting around long after our internship to find out. The 6 weeks gave a great insight into what it would be like working at the firm in full time employment.
The Culture
Myself and all the other interns that I started with remained good friends throughout our internship and the option was there to go out for drinks or food whenever we wanted to.
I was based in Leeds so compared to other big cities it was relatively quite cheap and not over priced
Leeds have a very good night life. It is good for if you just wanted to go for a few drinks after work or on the other hand go all out for a night out.
There was always some sort of event going off in the office I was at. Whilst I was on my internship there was the sports day that was held which was quite fun and competitive but also drinks after work etc.
