About You
I really enjoyed the insight, from the diverse and fun 西瓜视频 peers to the work covered, it was all a very enjoyable experience. PwC strikes a great balance between working hard and also ensuring that employees (and potential) feel valued and this was evident throughout the insight. From a professional point of view, we covered many areas and so the insight was very productive.
Throughout the whole insight I felt that I was well looked after and given apt opportunity to communicate my own opinions, from the electives to the formal dinners with the Partners. Also when the day's tasks were complete there was free time, and it was exactly that, FREE! So I definitely feel that PwC made me feel valued in terms of opportunities and freedom.
There was always support on hand as every task we did from electives on commercial awareness and technology, to a grand debate would have a staff member in the room to either teach us or provide ideas. Other than that, PwC members, especially recruitment staff, were very effective in supporting us throughout the insight and also informing us on the next stages of the recruitment process for a summer internship.
Coming from a background in accounting, an insight program from PwC would always have been helpful. The insight ensured I was able to build up my professional skills, from communication to commerical awareness and these are paramount for a career in the professional services. Chatting with partners was also very useful and ensured that you could knuckle down on the the in's and out's of a role in a particular service line.
The Company
The insight was structured over two days, and within this there would be 2 elective sessions, a major debate, dinner with partners, a session on your chosen service line and also information for the next steps in the recruitment process, so evidently a lot to fit into the two days. I felt that the insight was structured well, however that there could have been a little more emphasis on the chosen service line sessions e.g. making them 4 hours rather than 2 hours. This would have made it easier to appreciate what would be required in the role. Nonetheless the dinner with the partners made up for any discrepancies and thus ensured that all questions were answered.
Great, the recruitment process really done well in ensuring there were some real characters in the process. We worked hard during the day making witty jokes and then had a lot of fun after the day was completed (especially at the dinner).Needless to say, if you're a open person willing to make friends with new people, you'll be joined by the exact same type.
Considering this was an insight, there was not as such an investment in training. However we could definitely see that PwC pulled out all the stops for hospitality, transport and also getting staff members to come and provide talks with us, I believe that definitely thought about the insight day thoroughly and planned it very well.
Sessions on your particular chosen service line was useful in helping me to understand what a role would entail. Anything which was slightly ambiguous could be chased up with the partners at dinner and this was the case. When I came out of the insight i believed that I had a more comprehensive understanding of a role in the company and also a role in the industry as a whole.
Again, the culture at PwC is great. Work hard, play hard. Its difficult to get this across in 西瓜视频 recruitment brochures but when you are able to experience it at a PwC event first hand you can definitely understand the culture a lot better. To me I realised that it is a very laid back firm compared to some of its competitors, but that said, it can be very professional when the need be.
I believed that I knew my future career path before going into the insight, and that the insight would almost be the final stone on the path just to make absolutely sure I knew what i was getting myself into. That said, I came out of the insight with a comprehensive understanding of the role and so it helped me to make sure that I was going to enjoy my future career path.
Everything Else
PwC reimbursed travel expenses up to 拢100 which was very generous of them, especially compared to some other competitors. Provided that the expenses are genuine, there is no issue in reimbursement as you just have to fill out a form, attach receipts and provide bank account details.
There was dinner with the partners on the first night. Prior to this there was also lunch with the managers and networking with recruitment staff throughout the two days. Although the days were packed full, there was time to network and meet new faces during breaks.
I would recommend this insight. It is fiercely competitive to get a place onto the Talent Academy, and when you experience it it is obvious to see why. However, it is a very helpful insight especially if you're considering working in the professional services industry.
