    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall I really enjoyed the internship. I got to work on a lot of different jobs out at different clients, and I really enjoyed getting to work in different audit teams. All the work I undertook was 'real' work for the file, and so I felt as though I was definitely contributing towards the progress of the job.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I definitely felt as though I was valued by my colleagues. The work I undertook on the file really contributed to the progress of the job, and I felt as though this was greatly appreciated by my team members. My colleagues were very helpful in putting their time into coaching me on how to complete work on the file.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My incharge on each job was always helpful in coaching me on how to complete the various tasks assigned to me. I would then be left to complete these tasks by meself which was beneficial in giving me experience in time management. I would always wrote notes when being given coaching so I would be able to complete the tasks independently.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was always busy when out at clients, which was good as it gave me the maximum experience and exposure. If I had ever the finished the work assigned to me I would ask to try something different, or to help out someone else in the team, such as in picking samples or in documenting their evidence.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt as though I was given quite a lot of responsibility, as I was often assigned my own areas of the file to complete. I would also go and talk to the client myself in order to obtain the necessary documents that I required to complete the tasks assigned to me and document evidence. However, I always felt as though I had someone I could talk to in order to get help or support when necessary.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think my internship has helped me to improve my communication skills as I have worked with many different audit teams which I have needed to integrate into, and also I have on many occasions interacted with various clients. I also think that through writing numerous emails to clients I will have also improved by written communication skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I only worked in the office for just over a week of my six week internship in total, but when I was in the office I think the atmosphere was always friendly and upbeat. If I ever needed help with my tasks I always felt as though there was someone that I could approach.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that the overall organisation of the internship was very good. Our training in Windsor during the first week of our internship was beneficial in allowing us to meet many of the other interns from across the UK, a number of which I have remained in contact with, and also in providing us with an introduction to accounting and to PwC software such as Aura.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training over the days that we were in Windsor during the first week of the internship was very helpful in providing an introduction to accounting and to using PwC software such as Aura. We also had other IT induction training during our local office induction at the end of the first week of the internship.

There is also the potential to move out ito industry if one wished to. The opportunity for seconments in other countries is also exciting.
