    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Throughout my internship all of the PwC employees I worked with with friendly and approachable. Even though the work set was challenging and the hours I had to work were tough to get used to at first, I really enjoyed my time with PwC. The 6 weeks I spent there went far too quickly, but it was a good enough period to experience the working life at PwC.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • In the office there was a very open feeling and everyone was approachable. Partners would keep their doors open which made a friendly culture. The staff were sociable and easy to get along with. I would be invited to go to lunch with the team I was working with everyday. I was also invited to numerous social events - even in the first week of my internship. Collegues trusted me with important tasks which made me feel valuable and part of the team, as appose to someone who was just there for a few weeks experience.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • In my first week of starting, I was assigned a personal buddy and a people manger between the other interns who were also in assurance like myself. The role of my buddy was to be on hand whenever I had any questions. I met with my people manager a few times throughout my internship to discuss my progress and evaluate how I was doing. and technical knowledge. At the end of my internship my people manager required feedback from the colleges I had worked with - all were extremely positive and appraising about my work.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied depending on what jobs I was assigned to. For my first two weeks I was assigned to a busy job where there were tight deadlines to complete the work set. Here I found myself working a little later than the other interns. However the day went so fast I was learning so much, that this didn't bother me. On days in the office I would work less hours than I had been and the atmosphere was much more relaxed.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • This again varied depending on what jobs I was given. When I was on the busy job I was given a fair bit of responsibility to complete the tasks I was set alone. Despite being expected to complete the tasks set on my own, the team whom which I was working with were keen to help me whenever I felt like I needed to ask a question.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt on my internship have given me much more of a drive when it comes to work. I have learnt to be more efficient with my time and also be more careful not to make errors as well as ensure things are completed to a very high standard. I gained confidence in asking others for help and not holding back when I had a question. I also gained confidence talking professionally to others in a manner that was also both friendly and approachable.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was fairly relaxed and on only rare occasions was tense - but this was only when I was on my very busy job. Most of the time though there was a calm atmosphere where everyone was friendly and approachable despite others have tight schedules. Others would offer to get me a coffee frequently which made me feel welcomed and part of the team. Also others would come up to me, introduce themselves and offer to be there for help during my internship should I need it.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt that my internship was very organised throughout. I would always have something to do, whether this be assigned to a job outside of the office or in the office working with a manager on a job. I had a timetable which I could look at to check where I should be, what time and who the manager/director was that would be in charge of that job. There was also a lot of flexibility to change from certain jobs or be assigned to ones that I was particularly interested in.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm provided me with a laptop, a laptop bag as well as other accessories to go with it for the entire duration of my internship. We had a three day induction in a conference hotel which was all paid for, there were a few socials that I attended where I wouldn't have to pay anything and also some transport was provided.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There were many perks of this internship and I thoroughly enjoyed working with such enthusiastic approachable people. Having worked with employees it is clear that PwC are very supportive throughout your career with them. There is the change to work part-time, move to different offices and also different lines of service.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Yes, most of the colleges I worked with with very sociable and invited me to a few events which I was surprised at given that I was only there for 6 weeks. The other interns on my intake were also very sociable, we met up a few times, shared lifts, went out for meals and are still in touch now!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • This wasn't an issue as I just commuted from home. However socializing in the area wasn't great as there wasn't much going on near the office, so I didn't get to experience much of the social life in this location. However on some jobs I was assigned to we did go out socially after work there. Despite this work colleagues would arrange social events a bit further away from the office which proved to be great events!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in my area was pretty much non existent from what I was aware of. However there were good areas close by that would be good to go out on a night. Despite me not really doing this, there were some good pubs and bars not too far away and the convenience of the office being close to main motorways made these areas easily accessible.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was many social events to get involved outside of work, which again I was surprised at given that I was only there for 6 weeks. This ranged from going out for lunch, going out for evening meals, to going to other sporting events and sit down meals which were fully paid for.
