    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the 6 weeks I spent with PwC. Being in a regional office as opposed to London means you are with a smaller intern intake but you get to spend a lot more time together due to the size of the office and this definitely improves the experience. This doesn't mean you don't integrate really well with the office though - the general feel in the office was very friendly and welcoming.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Despite being an intern, people in the office always have time for you - even when they're super busy. When you are working in a team your colleagues make it very clear they appreciated the work you are doing and re-assure you countless times that the work you are doing is a worthwhile and meaningful contribution.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Having not studied Accounting at university, not being given adequate support and guidance was a big worry of mine. However, it quickly became clear that I had been worrying for nothing. People are well aware that you are starting from the beginning and can relate as they鈥檝e all been there too.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was not a day during my internship when I didn't have something to get on with. There's always work to be done and people are quick to snap you up if they learn you鈥檝e got some time on your hands. At the same time though they make sure you aren鈥檛 overwhelmed by the quantity of work!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There鈥檚 no doubt that you are given real responsibility right from day one so be prepared. The work you are doing is no different to others in your team. You鈥檙e definitely made to feel like one of the team, not just an intern who鈥檚 only there for a short period of time.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I can鈥檛 say for sure yet as I have not started back at university. However, I do notice how the experience has helped me develop in general. I am much more organised and efficient now with my time and the way I approach things. I also feel a lot more grown up!

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office is really friendly! I expected it to be very serious and corporate but it wasn鈥檛 at all. Obviously there are people head in laptops working hard but there鈥檚 always people having a chat in the breakout area. People always pop over to say hello. There鈥檚 also a strong emphasis on doing things as an office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the overall internship was well organised. The first couple of days you're together as a whole internship group, as in interns from all across the country. It's less organised when you are in your office but there's always someone to go to if you're not sure what you should be doing. There is room for improvement. It would have been nice to have had the jobs I would be working on already arranged before I started.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training on a personal level was very good. When you are working on a client team there is always someone in the team assigned to you as a coach. When you are in the office there鈥檚 always people around who are willing to answer any questions you may have. You also spend the first week you are with the firm doing formal training as an internship group.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Personally, very! If I鈥檓 fortunate enough to get invited back onto the graduate scheme (fingers crossed) the idea of becoming ACA qualified if very appealing, as is knowing I鈥檒l be working for a great firm with great career prospects. The progression path is very clearly laid out if you鈥檙e willing to work for it.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The office definitely has a very good social feel to it. As far as I鈥檓 aware there were things going on most Friday鈥檚 to mark the end of the week. There鈥檚 also the opportunity to get involved with sport during the week. As interns, we would all go for lunch together each day if we were in the office.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reading obviously isn鈥檛 cheap as an area with regard to the cost of living. However, you get a lot more for your money compared to living in London. And at the end of the day it鈥檚 only a 30 minute train journey into Paddington so London really isn鈥檛 that far away. There are plenty of places to socialise in town without a doubt.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
