The Role
The summer internship was really fun and rewarding. From the first day you are put into the thick of it, working with a client whilst being given a large amount of responsibility and having the support around you to ask questions. I looked forward to going to work, as every day you are working on something different, be that a different part of the same client or a new client altogether.
Everyone you work with, from associates to senior managers, are friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have either about the work you have been assigned or any questions related to PwC itself. They encourage you to speak up if you are have difficulty and to be honest about them with what you want to try and achieve from the internship.
When you join you are assigned a people manager, someone who assesses your performance and goes through all your feedback and objectives that you set at the start of the internship. They provide you with a tremendous amount of support and will help you with any questions you might have. On top of that, you are assigned a buddy, someone who joined the previous year, who will be your 'go to' person with general admin questions and
I did my internship in the summer, where the jobs tend to be more quiet so there were tasks for me to do but they tended to be quite relaxed in terms of their due date. There were days where there was not much do to but if you ask for work people are always happy to provide you with tasks as everyone always has things that they need completing. On other days, you would be very busy with a lot of tasks to do so overall there was enough work to keep you busy.
What amazed me the most about the internship is the amount of responsibility that you are given by other members of staff. I was working at a clients for 4 weeks and was given an enormous amount of responsibility such as working face-to-face with the client, producing reports that were going to be given to the client and completing tasks that were crucial to the audit process.
I am studying a business/accountancy based degree so the work in which I was doing at PwC was highly beneficial to that of my degree. I learnt concepts that will aid me in some of my modules next year as well as developed key IT skills such as learning beneficial excel formulas. There are training 'elearns' which you can do to help you develop key skills that will both aid you when you go back to university and if you decide to do this after you leave.
The Company
The office has a 'hot desk' policy, where you can book a working space for a week. This is nice as you are constantly sat by new, friendly people, allowing you to network and form relationships with other employees. The atmosphere itself is nice, everyone was friendly and would help you out if you needed help. The office tended to be quite quiet but no one minded if you were having a chat with someone else. There are plenty of chill out spaces in the office I worked in, such as a 'loft' area on the roof where there is a pool table and coffee machines to relax.
The 6 week internship was very well structured. The first week was an introduction week where we got to stay in a hotel for 3 nights and conduct some initial training. We then went back to the office for a 2 day induction which helped us learn the ropes of PwC and their processes. The remaining 5 weeks all of the interns were split up and booked on to clients, given work by PwC employees to complete. There are times where there is not much to do but these are very minimal and most of the time you will have something to do.
PwC itself is such a great company when it comes to investing in its staff. They provide you with a professional qualification in the form of becoming a chartered accountant. There are constant opportunities to develop and the firm offers a tremendous amount opportunities in which you can develop your own skills and career.

We got told when we took the summer internship that the 100 percent of the summer interns last year were offered a graduate placement. However, saying this, do not take it as a given, you still have to perform and show that you fit into the culture that PwC strives to achieve and have the skills to work here.
The Culture
There was literally a social event at least once a week. From networking with PwC employees to going out for drinks with people on your team and even going out with the other interns, PwC organised a lot of social activities outside of work and I would recommend going to them as its a nice way to meet people outside of the office setting.
Living in Bristol was nice, socialising is great as PwC is a 5 minute walk from the center of the city where everything is. The cost was not too bad, compared to London it's very cheap!
Nightlife is ok, there are some good club nights but if going to bars is more your thing, head up to park street or whiteladies road in Clifton where there is a vast amount of choice.
There are many social activities outside of work which you get told about on your office induction. Examples include Badminton, Football, Mixed Touch Rugby and others.
