The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, was given a great insight into the firm, the work that they undertake and the varying clients that they work with. Joining with a group of around 9 interns in my department gave us a great opportunity to network with people in a similar position to me and share our experiences throughout the 6 weeks.
My colleagues were always willing to answer my questions and help in any way they could, which really made the experience a whole lot more enjoyable as they made it so easy to fit in and contribute in the team. As well as answering work related questions they were always open to sharing their experiences of how they joined the company and the type of work that they would regularly undertake (seeing as the internship was over a quieter period in the summer they were able to show how the work differs in busy season with yearend engagements)
At the start of the Internship we were each allocated a people manager and a buddy with whom we met several times over the course of the programme and were always available on email or sametime to answer any questions we may have had and deal with any issues we may have had.
This was really dependent on the client, but overall i was quite consistently busy across the internship although there were a few slow day whilst we waited for client information before we could complete certain tasks.
Again, this is quite dependent on the clients, but throughout i was working directly on client work that you would undertake as a graduate. Particularly in my first 2 weeks i dealt directly with the client in several meetings and calls in order to produce the work i was given on ELR testing.
This really gave us an insight into the work we would actually be doing as graduates, and thus the skills learnt in Aura and Excel and other related audit programmes will really give me a head start when starting a full time job in Assurance. It also gave us a great network of people which can be drawn on when beginning my career.
The Company
The atmosphere in the more london office is great, very relaxed and everybody is very approachable if you have any question or queries about anything (such as using the printers etc) For most of my internship i was based away on client sited in London. Similarly in this environment we were given a meeting room from which to work and our team of PwC colleagues were able to work efficiently.
The overall placement was very well organised. To begin with we were taken on a residential training course where food, accommodation and classes were well planned and executed. When we were put into the office we were given adequate inductions and throughout the six weeks were provided with weekly updates from the early identification team with any news and tasks to look out for.
We were provided with lots of materials during our residential training course of useful information on the audit process, aura files etc. We were given access to their wealth of E-Learn resources from which we could undertake hundreds of training modules and were also provided with work computers and email addresses so we could fully contribute to the work of the team.

There are great future employment opportunities from the internship with an offer on the graduate scheme available to you upon review of your feedback from the 6 weeks
The Culture
We met up regularly when we were in the office and often went out for drinks on a Friday night. This was a really great element to the internship as you can discuss other people鈥檚 experiences and equally meet a lot of likeminded people who i may be seeing again should i be offered a graduate position at the end of the internship.
Quite expensive in places for socialising but that is sandard London prices. I lived at home so cost of libig was minimal.
There were a few socialising opportunities but over such a short period it was quite minimal, especially when i was working on a client site not in central london.
There were opportunities to take part in masterclass events and training which i took advantage of. We saw a number of opportunities of activities that you could do outside of work such as sports and choirs but only being within the firm for six weeks it was not really long enough to fully take advantage of these.
