    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • PwC is a really nice place to work in. Overall the experience was really good. I've learned a lot in a short period of time and I would definitely do it again if I had the choice. I’ve appreciated the responsibility I was given, I liked the people I worked with and overall I liked the environment and the culture embedded in the firm.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I definitely felt valued by my team. Everyone was really nice with me (especially at the beginning when I had no clue what was going on) and everyone tried to ‘incorporate’ me in the work that was going on at that moment. My input was definitely taken into account and appreciated. The people at PwC aren’t only knowledgeable they have truly amazing characters.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The people giving me work were always available for me to go back and ask what I did not understand, ask how my work progressed, asked what they think I should change and in the end the results would be of high quality and really appreciated by the senior people of the team. They would also often come themselves and check if you are alright, if you need any help and how your work is progressing.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It depended on the day and the deadlines. A usual day of work would be from 9.30 to 5.30 but I was never questioned why I left a bit earlier or why I arrived a bit late for example. As long as you do your work, nobody tells you anything. You are given the opportunity to manage the time yourself so it depends on you how you prioritise your tasks and how long you spend on them.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility is one of the things that you clearly notice when you come to PwC. You are treated equal as any member of the team and the work you are given is of high importance for the client. As PwC states, they are adding value to clients and the people working need to feel they are actually adding value by the things they do. So you are given important work that really matters.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Well the main things that will probably help me further are mainly the soft skills that you develop. From teamwork to task and time management, there are so many skills that you will be leaving your internship with. You also develop technical capabilities by using the Office suite every single day (especially PowerPoint and Excel) and also research skills as usually there are so many information that you need to find to come up with a good piece of work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was really welcoming and warm. Everybody is really nice (irrespective of their level) and they are willing to help at any time. It’s not a sad or stressful atmosphere, is more a place where everyone feels confident, feels at ease and enjoys working. This is mainly the result of the open culture that PwC promotes so definitely a really nice place to be in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship team was well prepared and they clearly know what they are doing. You start by going a three day residential where you get your laptop, know how to access different systems, do some initial setups and get trained on some really important skills that you’ll be using lately in your work. Then you come to the office where you start working immediately on the project you’ve been assigned to.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not only during the three day residential, but I consider the whole internship to be an investment in you. Basically you come with no experience and you get to learn so many things, it is absolutely amazing. Then you have access to all these online resources which are really helpful for your development. They clearly invest a lot in the people they hire and want to keep them into the firm.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I will clearly considerate the opportunity to work for PwC. They are an amazing company, they have a really good reputation, the people are nice, the environment is challenging and you clearly embark on a steep learning curve. I think is the perfect place to start a career and discover what you love doing. PwC offers the flexibility to try so many competencies and domains that you cannot really find somewhere else.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • Yes, there were a few socials organised by the internship team and because they take on only amazing people on board, we glued quite nicely together and organised socials between us. We would always go out on Friday after work and during the week take advantage of what London can offer – different events, late museum nights.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London so everything is really expensive. The pay you get should be able to cover it but rent will be at least 650 pounds a month and for socialising Balls Brothers have a happy hour going on where cocktails are £5 and a pint £3.50. You won’t get cheaper than that in London. Still you should be able to cover everything with the money you get.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again, it is London. So the nightlife is really varied and you have where to choose from but it can get quite pricy. Still there are loads of Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ venues that you can check out.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, just sign up to some newsletters of things that you are interested and there will always be something to do. You can never get bored in London
