The Role
I really enjoyed the internship since it was great to learn about PWC and it's culture, particularly i loved learning from people in my office and hearing about their experiences and backgrounds.
I felt valued by my colleagues as they were always more than happy to answer questions and explain any concepts to me to help my work and were always available to provide feedback which was a great way to communicate how they valued work produced.
We were given weekly meetings with our people managers to talk through any issues and to push for development and improvement, this was great to keep track of your objectives set at the start of the internship. Also support was available whenever you asked for it.
It varied, some days i was really busy and other days were quieter. But it was always a good amount of busy. There was an opportunity to guide your schedule as well and seek out work if you felt like you had too little/ wanted to learn more about another area which was a great opportunity.
From what i could tell i was given nearly the same level of responsibility as a new graduate, but someone was always there to provide guidance and support which was great to bounce questions of and express any queries.
It was great to see my degree being used in the real world and applied which you don't get the chance to do at university, it also taught me lots about listening to client's need and being agile to these needs and changes in needs.
The Company
It was a good balance in the office of focus and socialising which i really enjoyed, i always felt comfortable in speaking and asking questions, i really enjoyed dress down Friday which added to the social atmosphere. I liked the idea of hot desking as it was a chance to speak to different people daily rather than sticking to one desk.
Every week we had some sort of team meeting or talk which was more general about business and personal development which the whole team went along to which was really good to learn about developing outside of the technical side of being an actuary as well. Also online training was provided at the start of my internship.

The Culture
Yes there were regular socials in the office. The training really encouraged intern interation and was great with the icebreakers to get to know everyone especially the end of intern event. I think more regular intern socials would have been good throughout the internship, but the AGM bridged this gap.
