The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with PwC. The people were all extremely helpful, passionate and interested in me as an intern, and gave me an appropriate amount of work which they were always there to guide me through. The social opportunities and networks/ friendships I have made are really great and I look forward to the future.
As one of around 10 assurance interns I was the only interns on my certain jobs, so I felt valued to do the work that I could do and was set. Additionally, there were times I was on a job with only one other individual, so I felt extremely valued by both the manager, and the individual I was working with.
I was assigned both a buddy and a people manager, whom were both extremely helpful and always there with support and guidance whenever I needed it. The teams I was working with were always there to answer questions and coach me through any issues and thus I feel the guidance and support I was given was excellent.
Whenever I was posted to a job/client I was extremely busy, and if I ever finished the jobs I was assigned it was quickly assigned some new work to keep me busy. There were times when I didn't have a great deal to do but this time was easily filled by simply asking for any work, or completing optional development e-learns.
I was given responsibility to complete the work I was set, however this work did tend to be the same over the different jobs I was on, so ultimately I was limited to doing the same work and thus have the same responsibilities. However, there were times when I was on my own with a client, and thus I felt a great deal of responsibility and thrived in such scenarios.
I feel as though the experiences I have had, along with the technical, hard and soft skills, will help me flourish in my year at university and beyond. Additionally the people I met and networks I have begun to form, will help me in future career, and in life in general.
The Company
In the office, the atmosphere is a very hard working environment. However, everyone does get along and there are constant interactions between colleagues of all grades. There is also a caring and passionate atmosphere, as everyone cares about their work and is willing to help anyone who becomes stuck, which is really reassuring as an intern with little technical knowledge.
From the outset the internship with extremely well organised. The team were in constant contact regarding the initial induction week and were really accessible for any issues. Also, the company鈥檚 internal system of assigning jobs made knowing where and when I would be at certain places and what I would be doing, really easy and really well organised.
At the beginning of the internship, we had a series of training days which were an initial investment into us and really helped the transition into the internship. Additionally, there were e-learns which were compulsory, and we also had access to optional e-learns which gave us the opportunity to aid our development, off the back of the firm's investment.

The future employment prospects seemed great, however the way in which the conversion from intern to graduate job changed this year at the last minute which created a sense of uncertainty. However, I still feel as though there are great opportunities here at PwC and would really embrace and thoroughly be proud of coming back to work.
The Culture
Once a month, there was a office social which was for anyone to attend, were there were some free drinks and people of all grades to socialise with. I also played football for the PwC football team against other corporate and social football teams. At the end of my internship, my fellow interns and I organised a social to round off the placement, so there was a really good social scene amongst my fellow placement 西瓜视频s.
I lived at home for the duration of my internship, so the cost of living wasn't really an issue. Also, being from the Midlands area, the cost of socialising wasn't anything out of the ordinary for me, and thus I didn't see it as an issue. One thing I would say is that the two organised office socials that I attended were at two quite different places in terms of price and atmosphere, thus it tends to cater for all individuals respective costs of socialising.
The nightlife is great and really caters for all tastes, price ranges and moods. There are a variety of bars, pubs, clubs and entertainment areas, which cover all needs and wants. For example, the two office socials I attended were at more pub/pub kind of places, however as a group of interns we self-organised to go for food, drinks and bowling, which really is a great variety and includes people that may not want to go for a drink.
During my internship I played for the office football team on a number of occasions, attended office drink socials and also ran a team office quiz. This shows the variety of opportunities which we were actively encouraged to get involved in, and from speaking to associates and graduates, there are a great deal more opportunities to get involved in outside of work.
