The Role
I really enjoyed my internship as it offered me a real insight into life in the workplace and how the job works as we were given proper clients and proper tasks instead of just training exercises. I managed to meet lots of different people and try a range of different clients, which helped to me to network and develop my understanding of the firm and different businesses in general.
I felt that all my colleagues tried extremely hard to make the interns feel comfortable and involve us and were always there to help us with any queries or questions that we had. Occasionally I felt a bit useless but I think that would be the case in any job where you don't have the capabilites to complete that many tasks yet.
Support was always available when needed in the form of having a people manager, a buddy system and also just a lot of friendly young graduates who have recently been in similar positions. If ever I had a query, I knew who to contact and they responded fast which helped to make the internship a lot easier.
It did vary from client to client - there were some days where I felt a bit awkward as I didn't have much to do but didn't want to have to keep nagging my in-charge to give me tasks as I knew that they themselves had things to do. However saying this, I never had a full day with nothing to do and there was always ways I could use my spare time usefully ie. doing elearns or shadowing someone. I was booked on a client every single day which was good.
I felt like PWC had given us quite a lot of responsibility, as we were doing real life work for clients and for example I was able to go and speak to the client often which I felt was quite a large responsibilty but one that I appreciated and made me feel like I was learning.
I don't think that the skills I developed will help me in my degree studies as it is a completely different topic however I think that they will be extremely useful when I enter the workplace, especially of course if I end up with a job in the firm I think I will have a massive advantage over the incoming grads!
The Company
The general atmoshere in the office was very friendly, however I suppose it will always be quite intimidating when you walk into an office full of people you don't know for the first time. The only issue with PWC is that they do hotdesking so it can sometimes be quite scary walking into the office and choosing a desk, but this does mean that you get to sit next to different people and meet a lot of new people.
The overall internship was set up extremely well in my opinion as there were lots of interns there was obviously a clear system in place for how the scheme works with clear tasks for each week etc and all the interns were booked nearly every day on clients which was great to see.
The firm invested a lot into all the interns, from a residential training week in week one which was more than adequate for six weeks, to constant elearns throughout the internship with set deadlines so that we were always learning on the job, and also constant coaching day to day when we were at clients.

Company Parties/Events
Future employment prospects within the organisation seem to be quite strong. There is a lot of encouragement and support that the grad job is basically there for you if you do well which is nice however I cannot say for sure yet as no interns this year have been offered a job yet. I've heard the percentage is around 90% of interns are offered a job.
The Culture
The social scene within PWC is great, with socials almost every week involving a variety of different activities such as drinks, lunches, sporting activities and even quizzes so there is something for everyone. We also got to participate in the annual sports day during my internship which was a great way to socialise with everyone in the office and have some fun.
I worked in Leeds, which is relatively cheap compared to places like London as it is in the North. The cost of socialising is quite low, however I cannot provide much in terms of cost of living as I lived at home during my internship since Leeds is my home town.
The nightlife in Leeds is great, there are lots of cool bars and clubs and something for everyone. Especially on weekends, it is always very busy and lots of fun so I would really recommend it.
There were loads of opportunites to get involved in actitivities outside of work, not only on the social side of things (see above answer on social activity) but also in terms of learning and development such as the Intern Dragon's Den challenge we were able to participate in which was really interesting.
