    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The Experience has been a lot of fun. Everything from socialising with interns and graduates, to getting stuck into your designated projects, is highly rewarding. I have come away with many fresh experiences, which is never a bad thing.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagus (even far more senior staff) made me feel like I was making meaningful contributions whenever I was assigned work. I felt like a part of the team most of the time.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Joining PwC felt a bit like being thrown into the deep end. People use so many technical terms, it sometimes feels like they are talking another language. Whilst this is understood by the training staff, once you move to the client site, you are often assumed to know more than you have been taught at that stage. But with a proactive approach you can pick all the skills up as you proceed through the internship. Your Buddy and People Manager are a great port-of-call for questions.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sometimes, very, other times, not at all. The work you hae depends on the state of the project, as there are only certain tasks you can be useful for as an intern, given our relatively low level of experience.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given a fair amount of responsibility. Even doing relatively routine tasks such as booking rooms, had a real impact on the project and people around you. Expect to spend a large proportion of time booking rooms, making and editing spreadsheets, and e-learning, which may sound dull, but it is all part of the learning process.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • You learn to communicate with people on many different levels, learn large quantities of information, and how to compress chunks of text into their key points, all of which are vital for degree studies

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Employees are generally focused on their own jobs, and as everyone has thewir own indiviual tasks to complete, there is not too much interaction with those around you. On the other hand PwC employees are always approachable, and generally more than willing to offer a helping hand when needed.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The 3 days of training in Berkshire were increadibly organised - from the excellent food and drink to the insightful teaching on offer, this was a great start to the internship. After moving into your office of choice, things become a little less organised. It then becomes your responsibility to be proactive and find work for yourself - as everyone is so busy on their projects there may not be a constant stream of tasks to complete.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Whether it was the immaculately designed PwC e-learning resources, the highly trained and skill teaching staff, or the people around you - There were opportunities at every turn to enrich your understanding and develop your skills. PwC spared no expense when it comes to your development over the course of the internship.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Not only do I feel like I have contributed significantly to the company, and impressed the people around me enough to be offered a graduate job, I am now also more keen than ever to start at PwC. The company creates a nurturing atmosphere, where people are free to be themselves, and it makes for a workplace that you want to keep coming back to. PwC constantly rewards its employees through benefits and promotions, which means there is always something to strive towards.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Yes! The fellow interns in the office were great fun to be around. We went to all the PwC socials, which were a great chance to meet more senior employees over a drink (or four!), and we had a few trips to broad street for nights out with the interns and recent graduates. Meeting people from all levels, backgrounds and ages was not only interesting, but also useful, as your maturity and ability to communicate with others improves drastically.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living and socialising in Birmingham was pretty high. But considering that the company covers business travel expenses, you do find yourself with more spare income to compensate. An average night out could cost you 拢30-拢50, if you take into account the price of taxis. Aside from bars and clubs, there is tons to do here, including mini golf and trampolining!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • My office was based in Birmingham Snow hill, which is a business sector and is relatively empty by night. A 10 minute taxi away is Broad Street, which couldn't be livelier. So as long as you are willing to travel a bit, you can be sure that you will find a good night out. It is worth noting that Birmingham can be quite a dangerous city by night, and that travelling along for any period of time is not advised, so plan routes accordingly.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Whilst there weren't opportunities (at least none that we were aware of) to join the regional sports teams, we did enjoy activities such as the Summer Socials, the Dragon's Den challenge and the PwC Games. The company tries to gve interns a full graduate experience, and so we are invited to all he events they are, and then some. Outside the office I spent many evenings with the other interns, exploring what Birimingham has to offer.
