    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was a great experience, it gave me the chance to work in a huge company which is something I had never done before. The people and the office were great but the work I was given was a little repetitive and a few of my jobs were cancelled so I was only on one client for the duration of my internship which was disappointing.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel so welcome by all my colleagues and they were happy to answer any questions that I had. I did feel like they were sometimes looking for work for me to do as there wasn't really any. I was made to feel very integrated into the group and the people I met were people I would be more than happy to work with in the future.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance and support from superior members of staff was very good. They made sure I understood the client I was working on and that in turn helped me understand my work. Everyone seems to have an open door policy and are always open to answering questions which is something I really liked.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • To be honest I wasn't that busy on a daily basis. The jobs I was given were very simple tasks which meant that I was constantly asking for a bit more work. There were some days when I had enough on to keep me busy for the whole day but the majority I was looking for extra work to do as I didn't want to look lazy!

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I wasn't given too much resposibility but to be honest I didn't expect to. I was only on the placement for 6 weeks so there's only so much responsibility that can be given to you when you are new to the business and you are only a temporary member of staff. This to me was exactly what I expected. I was given responsibility to visit a client on my own which was a nice surprise.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learned will definitely help me with my degree as I have exams relating to areas of the business I worked in so it will help me put the theory into practice. The training I received during my placement was second to none and I will be sure to use the leadership and communication skills in all walks of my life.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was surpisingly relaxed which I really liked. Everyone was so friendly and I was made to feel welcome and invited to all sorts of social events whilst I was there. Everyone was very interested in what I had to say and seemed genuinely pleased to show me around and introduce me to other members of staff.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The training section of the internship was organised seamlessly, to say the number of interns they had there, it could not have gone smoother. There was plenty of structure to the days and everything we learned seemed relevant. In regards to the actual work, this could have gone better. There didn't seem to be enough work for the 3 interns and jobs were cancelled leaving us with no work to do on that day which was unfortunate.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a great deal in training and development. At the start of the internship we had a 3 night residential down in Windsor where we were fully catered for and all expenses were paid. Whilst down there we had extensive training to prepare us for the job and give us skills that would be useful both in the office and out. Training also carried on throughout the internship which was great.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would really like to have a job with them in the future. I am hoping that I can switch my specialty but the company as a whole is fantastic and exactly what I am looking for in a graduate employer. They look after their employees well and you feel like a valued member of the team. This was what really appealed to me throughout the recruitment process and now even more so at the end of the placement.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There was a really good social scene between the other interns. There were four of us in total and I couldn't have asked for better people to be going through the process with. We became good friends throughout the six weeks and went to social events together and played pool and table tennis at lunch time. Despite being on different jobs we kept in touch the whole time and this made the experience more enjoyable!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The office is located between Nottingham, Leicester & Derby and these vary in prices so there is somewhere to suit your budget. I lived at home so I didn't experience any living costs but I did find that I did a lot more driving than I usually do and subsequently my petrol costs seemed to rocket! You do, however, get a reasonable proportion of this back through expenses so it didn't work out badly in the end!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again, there are a couple of cities to choose from when it comes to Nightlife. Nottingham has a good Nightlife and there is something to suit everyone from going out for a meal and drinks to clubbing. There are also a lot of other social things to do there so it is a good city to live in whilst you are on your placement.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We went out for meals and we also went to watch the cricket one evening. This was nice as it wasn't something I would usually do and allowed everyone to relax, have a drink and really socialise. There were also other events to choose from if you wanted to get involved. There were sports teams that you could joing and there were also career specific events that were going on at the time.
