The Role
Working at PwC was an absolute pleasure. I was able to learn new things and recieve insight to various areas and Lines of Service.
The colleagues I worked with were nothing but supportive and provided feedback where requested. I was able to evaluate myself with their help and improve in areas where necessary.
I was assigned to a sprint project for my duration here and everyone was very helpful and provided enough guidance to get me started. There was no "hand-holding" but I wasn't thrown into the deep end either. Everyone was helpful and honest with how I should proceed.
On daily basis I was responsible for proceeding with my assigned project and it was a full-time assignment. 9-5 I would work on that apart from a few tea breaks throughout to keep me going.
The responsibility given was mostly on my assignment and it was to deliver what I promised and to ensure that all features worked and fit a high standard.
My project covered new areas which I did not learn before so learning them throughout the 10 weeks was very useful and no doubt I will make use of them in the future. These skills will allow me to provide a new insight and experience in univeristy projects as well as professional projects.
The Company
The office atmosphere was more relaxed than I expected which created a friendly environment to work in and spend your days within. Everyone is happy to help if they are able to and engage in social events which is great for making connections. Overall absolutely excellent atmosphere.
From my point of view everything seemed to ran very smoothly from the application process to the induction and my days at the office. Induction was very fast and informative, organised beautifully with everything provided for myself and the other interns along with informative sessions and within the office standard meet and greet and teaching sessions were also provided. Provided very good insight into PwC overall and presented the different opportunities available.
Aside from the induction period and the several WebEx sessions hosted by PwC no other training courses were provided for my end however the firm has invested their time and interest in me. This allowed me to meet new people, make connections and develop communication and presentation skills. I think that the experience of working in an office envrionment within PwC is great as it gives me a bigger perspective and a general idea of how this and other organisations would operate on daily basis.
PwC is the place to be. As mentioned before the work atmosphere is excellent, staff are friendly and helpful and the organisation appreciates good work which is what I aim for.
The Culture
Myself and the other interns had plenty of time we spent together during the induction mostly as we would see each other every day. Back in the office however would be a less common occurence to see everyone in the same room and the same time as meeings and presentations were sheduled however a BBQ was organised for all of us to socialise and spend time together along with other staff from PwC which was great to get to know everyone from other areas within the offices.
The cost overall was fairly low. One of the events organised by my LoS was to to a hotel for dinner and carry out team building activities at a centre the next day which cost almost 拢100 but the experience was excellent and definetly worth it. Its a small price to pay for building relationships with your colleagues and making the office atmoshpere even better.
I did not engage in any Nightlife within my area considering where I live but to my understanding there are nights out were the staff go out for a few drinks and chat.
There were a few opportunities sent around in the e-mail, unfortunately I did not engage due to the nature of my project and its time consumption.
