About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight, it was a great opportunity to learn about PwC especially into its Tax and Assurance sector, it helped me understand what career i would like to pursue in the future. Further more there were many opportunities to be able to network and talk to experienced PwC staff and learn about their journey through out PwC and what they offer.
I felt very valued during my time at the Talent Academy, the staff were very welcoming and ensured everything was going steadily for us. They were able to share their personal experiences and I felt comfortable asking questions. Furthermore everyone who attended the talent academy were offered an interview for an internship/work placement. They also reimbursed travel costs and provided rooms at the hotel during our stay there.
I gained a lot of guidance during the talent academy as I was able to speak to the staff in the different sectors of PwC to figure out what I would like to specialise in. They were very helpful and answered my questions, this was particularly useful as I was able to speak to current graduates on the scheme they offer. The staff were also very supportive of what I would like to do within the firm and provided the necessary information.
I got to expand on my networking skills which I feel will be very useful for the future as I am more confident now to create links, this will also help in my studies during presentations and just in general to enhance my public speaking as well. The information I received also helped me decided what I would like to do in the future in terms of the job I would like to pursue.
The Company
The talent academy was very well structured with a clear plan on what was ahead for the day, which we stuck by too and the day ran very smoothly with enough breaks between. There were different sectors of PwC on which we would focus on which provided a good idea of how we would be working in that role.
The general atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly, it was not too strict and so I felt comfortable around everyone there. It was a good mix of a formal and casual meeting which I feel benefited me as I was not to nervous or scared to ask any relevant questions.
The company helped us get an insight into the Tax and Assurance sector by providing us with relevant tasks in that sector, they also provided us with many of the experienced staff such as the directors and senior managers to speak to during our networking time as well providing a dinner with them. They also told us about the PwC professional and so helped emphasize what they look for and helped me develop on these skills and realise what I need to focus on.
The talent academy provided an rough idea of how it would be like to work in the company especially the Tax and Assurance sector. Furthermore they gave us information on what a graduate scheme would like in the company and so I have a clear idea on what it would be like, we were also able to speak to people who completed the graduate scheme and so they were able to help answer my questions.
The insight helped me understand the company culture a lot more than I had expected, by focusing on what the company looks for in terms of the PwC professional as well as what extra activities they provide for their staff. They also provided a presentation on what PwC aims to achieve and how far they have got in terms of those goals and how they can further progress in them.
The content of the day was very valuable on what I would like to do in the future, as it provided us with relevant information in terms of their internship and following that the graduate scheme as well as being able to speak to the staff from various different backgrounds education wise helped me realise I can go into any sector that I would like. Furthermore we were also able to speak to someone from ICAEW which helped me get an idea of the ACA programme of which I was interested in.
Everything Else
The company reimbursed our travel costs and also provided us with a room at the hotel and breakfast/lunch/dinner during our stay there.
There were lots of opportunities to network with the staff of PwC especially as they organised a networking opportunity for us as well a dinner with experience employees of the company. We were able to speak to various employees and ask about their route into PwC. Furthermore there was always an opportunity to speak to the staff throughout the days.
The networking and social event opportunities were great as we were able to speak to whoever we liked and got to speak to a lot of employees throughout our stay. The staff were really nice and helpful in answering any queries we had. It provided us a nice platform on which we could be comfortable in talking to experienced and newly graduates who were in the firm.
We were able to find out about the different activities the employees can get involved in outside of work, for example PwC do a variety of sporting activities such as golfing and biking. The also provide staff with charitable events and other social gatherings for the staff to get to know each other and really feel apart of the company.
Yes I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend as it provided a great opportunity for someone looking to go into business. It provided a good insight into the company on what they do and what they have to offer for undergraduates like myself. It was very organised and I feel like they covered a lot throughout our stay. The employees were also very friendly and helpful and made the insight even more worthwhile.
