About You
Insight itself was very good and had an excellent atmosphere throughout. By putting it in a hotel it meant that the social aspect of the insight was great - everyone was able to meet and spend lots of time together. Insight itself was highly informative and allowed us to understand what is actually done in both assurance and tax divisions whilst networking opportunities allowed us to ask several questions to partners and employees.
Felt highly valued throughout the placement. It goes without saying that PwC have invested a lot of money per 西瓜视频 providing a stay in a lovely hotel and provide all meals - they also provide goodies etc. In terms of the actual insight, they make a lot of effort to ensure that you understand how you could fit into the firm and also really aim to show you how you could become part of the different divisions and how to get through interview etc.
High level of guidance was given throughout the insight. Every single activity or talk was led by an expert/professional who had lots of experience and even when doing activities, there were often several staff who worked within the division who were ready to take questions. There was also a lot of guidance with regards to career development and they wanted each person to develop through the company.
I personally do not think that the programme focused so much on developing personal skills as much as it could have done - the focus was highlighting the activities that PwC undertake and learning about the firm and the different divisions and so, skills were not the focus. However, there was a seminar on the type of skills that PwC are looking for and how to show these skills so it is useful for future interviews.
The Company
Very well structured insight. The firm provided accommodation if required for two nights and from the first day, the schedule was jam packed with usually talks in the morning and a long activity in the afternoon. The evening was also well planned with a socialising meeting before a dinner with partners. There were short breaks provided between activities and so, the whole two days were very well organised.
Excellent atmosphere throughout the insight. Plenty of opportunities to socialise with fellow peers and the atmosphere unlike several other similar events was not a competitive one - there wasn't the feeling that everyone was trying to beat one another but instead, it was highly enjoyable and social and meant that networking was actually quite easy.
The firm had invested a lot into each candidate.
The insight gave a very good idea of what it would be like to have a full time job at the firm - however at times this felt slightly overdone and there were too many talks which highlights the same things. It was also questionable as to how 'exciting' each job was withinthe firm and employees seemed to need to push certain agendas at times. It was also surprising to see such an anti-London agenda at the insight.
The insight was very good in highlighting why people choose PwC and the culture was a reoccurring theme. The flexibility of the firm was very much stressed with the idea that personal responsibility is key being accentuated. There was also a strong sense of leadership and several talks from employees to more senior level staff all gave varying perspectives into why they would choose PwC and the benefits which the firm offer with regards to personal development and the culture which surrounds them.
It was a really good way to just find out more about the firm and the different paths that one could follow as you progress. It highlighted what I didn't enjoy i.e. assurance and made me realise that perhaps another division would be much more interesting. It also allowed me to realise the potential to travel and also whether working for such a large firm where one needs to be there for the long term was something which I wanted to do.
Everything Else
All travel was reimbursed
There were several opportunities for networking - possibly one of the most positive aspects of the insight. Within every activity and talk questions could be posed to all the employees and the dinner on day 1 involved having 2 partners at each table who would rotate around the hall to ensure that everybody could speak to as many partners as possible. This was an excellent way to ask for advice on interviews and also to gain some insight into how their careers had evolved and why they chose to stay.
Very good fun - a very relaxing environment.
Lots of emphasis is placed on charity and volunteering work.
Definitely - even if you don;t enjoy the activities or the sectors, it is always worth learning about them to allow you to make an informed decision at the end of the process.
