About You
PwC went out of their way to make sure that we all felt comfortable with the other participants and had a good time whilst we were there.
All of the staff were very friendly and answered all our questions about the company.
In the elective sessions, there could have been more guidance, however there were always people around if you needed to ask about anything that you were doing.
We did a skills session where we went over interview competency questions and the best way to answer these.
The Company
Very well. It truly was a jam-packed agenda! It was really good that there wasn't too much filler time.
I really enjoyed my time at this insight. All of the other participants were so nice and friendly and the staff really helped as well.
As it was a talent academy and only 2 days long, obviously they weren't able to go into a lot of depth in terms of personal training and development, but in the little time that they did have I felt that they spent it well and showed us important skills.
It was really nice to speak to people in the role of assurance (my chosen stream) and have them explain to me that it wasn't just boring finances, but it is a customer facing role and a lot of the time is spent with people, not just looking at numbers on a page. It was also interesting to hear about the exams and their difficulty if I were to be accepted onto a graduate scheme with PwC.
This was one of the highlights for me of the talent academy. Before attending, I wasn't really aware of the company's ethics and the role which they had in the community. One of the company's partners was particularly helpful in this and gave a speech telling us about the charity work which they had done and how the company isn't all about profits, this definitely made an internship a much more attractive prospect.
Very valuable. I felt that the two days gave a great insight into what the company was about and what someone in the role I'm applying for would do on a day to day basis. Not only this, but the partner dinner meant that we learnt all the tips and tricks for getting through an interview with PwC and hopefully joining them in a full time role.
Everything Else
Accommodation and board was paid for and there was also the opportunity for reimbursement of travel expenses
We got to meet employees from the stream which we applied for as well as those in other streams, which was really useful to see the pros and cons for each when deciding what to apply for. We also got to meet more senior members of staff at the partner dinner which was an informal opportunity to ask questions
Really great, apart from the fact that we were only able to speak to the partners on our table. As a woman, I personally would've liked to have spoken to the only female partner there and learnt about how gender would affect my role at PwC and what their attitude to diversity was. I would've also liked to have spoken to partners who work in the region which I would like to work in.
This came as quite a surprise to me, but PwC seem to be pretty active outside the workplace in the community. They also seem to really encourage the personal development of employees by sending them on different courses and making them more well rounded. I was particularly impressed with their charitable efforts.
Without a doubt. Going into this experience I was very unsure of what I wanted to do, and to be honest if anything just thought it would be something to give me a bit more experience, but coming out of it I have been really encouraged to pursue a career with PwC, and if unsuccessful then a career in assurance. I also felt that this insight really encouraged my confidence.
