About You
Very enjoyable 2 day residential insight packed full with workshops, talks from members of staff and networking opportunities working along side like-minded people in similar career stages. All staff were enthusiastic in whatever they had been tasks to do, and were always open to questions. Most enjoyable part of the insight was the networking event over dinner and drinks, and the most rewarding was by far the debate section.
Pwc made us all feel very valued during our time with them. The simple fact that they had invested so much time and money into the whole selection process and residential event showed how much they value and want the top talent. What else added to the weighting of this valued feeling was the fact that all of the staff were very keen for you to come and speak to them and ask questions about what life working at Pwc is like. This included staff form industrial placement level right up through to senior partner level, with some giving up their time for free to come and convince us Pwc is the place to be.
Particularly in the workshop sessions we were given more guidance, but at the same time it felt like any ideas were completely organic and self produced by the participants. The staff instead were more focused on providing tips and hints to steer us in the right direction and providing feedback either through direct feedback or through asking us self-evaluative questions such as "what could you gave done better?" which I enjoyed. Overall the staff did a really good job of getting us to think hard about problems and how we would tackle these.
As an economics 西瓜视频 I don't think that many of the skills we gained will benefit my studies directly, apart from perhaps the debate over whether the Uk should leave the EU or not, however I think the whole event has sharpened my mind when it comes to knowing what I want in terms of career aspirations and how you need to put in the hard work to achieve your goals. One area that has been strengthened is self evaluation and how to present your skill set best at interview. This was done through the constant self evaluative feedback technique and also the interview based "seminar" at the end of the second day, where we were questioned what skills/experiences we would draw on to answer certain questions/to show certain attributes at interview.
The Company
The insight was generally well structured by putting different groups in different rooms for workshops and debate preparation sessions, and then coming back together for whole group activities. The timetabling seems to work well and staff acted quickly, in conjunction with the hotel, if slight adjustments were needed if some parts of the day took longer than expected. Also a good balance between working hard and having appropriate times for breaks with an hour allowed for free time after the working day had finished but before evening networking.
The atmosphere was very positive at the event! Everyone there had worked hard to earn their place on the program and so there was a sense of trying to impress and remain professional, but the event on the whole was good fun and you could easily have a laugh too. I think this atmosphere was down, yet again, to the staff who radiated a very positive work-life balance through tough workshops and through rather silly ice breaker events that put a smile on all faces. The location of the event also helped keep the atmosphere largely professional as it was made clear whilst there we were representing Pwc, a company that values its reputation greatly.
The company invested in our development by lending Pwc staff to us to deliver workshops, presentations, talk and networking events. The human investment in the partner networking session was most clear with partners and directors travelling from across the country to come and speak to us about generally topics as well as Pwc itself
Very much so. It was a clear theme when speaking to the staff that the variety of work with top clients in particular and also the work life balance at Pwc was a massive selling point. This message was emulated by all levels of staff along side the feeling of 'doing the right thing' and investing in staff as opposed to simply driving profits up and up. All staff seemed vert happy and enthusiastic about their work at Pwc.

Personally the workshop on assurance made it clear that that is not something I want to do much in the future. Although this sounds like a negative it's always helpful to narrow down options so that I can focus on other areas that I may enjoy more. Talking to partners in particular also gave a valuable insight into not only Pwc but also other sectors of business. Since these guys have worked with many firms in different industries they were able to give an honest option on where certain lines of work will be moving to in future years. This too was of use to me

Yes. Dinner and drinks with partners and directors from all over the country. Networking with other staff throughout duration of insight programme
Very useful and enjoyable. Easy to talk to staff who were chatty and positive throughout time with us. Sense that they didn't mind giving up their free to time to come and invest in young talent.
A lot of this information is on the company website but staff did also talk about non-work activities...Socials, trying events etc
Yes. Very useful and enjoyable 2 day event
