    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Belfast PwC Talent Academy was a wonderful experience. It was packed with events and networking and I cannot recall a single minute I did not have something to do. It provided me with a wide understanding of what PwC does and what it is about, while giving me an opportunity to meet many amazing people.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • PwC went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Whenever we had any problem they were more than willing to help us. Since it was almost 40 of us attending the Talent Academy, sometimes it was little bit challenging to make yourself heard, but again, this is to be expected. It was clear they care about us and want us to succeed.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • From the very beginning we were given a clear instruction and regular updates regarding our application. Every step was clear. On the actual event, we were given a clear schedule and through regular meeting were told what to expect and where to go. I was really impressed by how they managed to handle us so smoothly and without any set backs. They were very open to help us with any issue we had.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This was the main benefit of the Belfast Talent Academy for me. Thanks to number of workshops on different divisions of PwC I learned a lot about what I want to do in my life. The amount of information we have been given is truly amazing and helps one to build a sense of what it is like to work for PwC. As for the skills, the most useful was a case study with the following presentation in front of senior PwC people. A great opportunity to practice teamwork and public speaking.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Structure was clear and well explained. We had no problem following the structure throughout the event. We have been given a printed version of the schedule so at any time we were able to check what is coming next and where we need to go. We got an opportunity to attend 3 (out of 4 or 5) insight presentations of different PwC divisions - I only wish I could attend all of them as I found them very useful.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Friendly, open minded, engaging and challenging. The people were the highlight of the entire event for me for sure. Such a nice bunch of brilliant and yet down to earth individuals, it was pleasure to talk to them all. We did not feel at all as if we were competing against each other, rather it was a supportive environment with lots of fun.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They have invested a lot in us. The event venue was breathtaking and we got a five star service from food to spa and fitness. The biggest investment of PwC was probably in terms of people - partners of PwC came to meet us for a dinner for one evening which was an amazing experience and quite a commitment from PwC.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • To a great degree. Through a number of insight presentation we got a taste of several lines of business of PwC. The most helpful factor were for sure the interactions with different PwC employees and their willingness to answer all our questions. We all felt quite motivated and very inspired after the Academy. The only thing is that there was no work shadowing opportunity.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It has really helped me to do so. Especially during the partner dinner the partners took time to introduce themselves and talk a bit about the firm. It was really clear that they are proud of the company and that it is like one big unit - moving together forwards. It was clear that people stand in the middle of PwC priorities.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very. It is a one thing to read about what PwC does online and actually talking to the people who do these things daily. After the talent academy I more than ever motivated to work for PwC. The sheer amount of information we have been exposed to gives me a clearer understanding of what type of career I want to pursue.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • PwC offered to reimburse all travel expenses up to 150 pounds. This is done through filling in of an expenses form, collecting the receipts of tickets and sending it through post to PwC. The expenses are then reimbursed to your account. I found the process to be straight forward and easily understandable.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty. They have organized a lot of people from every line of business to come down and meet us. The insight presentations were a great opportunity to meet and network with PwC people. We also had a formal dinner with partners, which was an incredible experience and one of the highlights of the event.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were quite relaxed, even though I was quite stressed in the beginning, it became quite obvious that there is nothing to fear. The PwC people were always very friendly and open to answer literally any question we had. You could just easily join a group of people chatting and either stand by and listen or step in and ask questions of your interest. No pressure.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This was one of the big themes which carried throughout the event. PwC employees are actively encouraged to participate in a wide variety of charitable work. The employees seemed to be quite excited about all the different fundraising activities and volunteering opportunities. There is also quite a number of different social activities outside of the work.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. It was not easy to be invited to take part in the Talent academy, but it was more than worth it. It is for people who want to find out more about PwC, about what career path they should pursue and possibly boost their career to begin with. Just the caliber of people who attended was incredible, you will have so many wonderful conversations in such a short span of time...
