    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight very much. The two days were packed with a mixture of smaller elective and line of service sessions, as well as talks on PwC competencies and by a PwC partner. A formal networking dinner with PwC, as well as other networking sessions, were also useful in getting to know other colleagues and PwC staff. And of course, the accommodation and site were very comfortable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued throughout my time, and whenever I had any questions I was able to ask them. However, because it was not an employment scheme, I felt that I was not able to get to know the PwC company as well as I could, although the line of service session was useful in allowing me to gain a better understanding of Assurance. The scheme as a whole felt very prestigious and it felt that they had invested a lot of money in us!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The staff were very helpful throughout the two days, although for the group debate, there was a bit of miscommunication between the staff in terms of what is required, and as such it took our group a while before fully understanding the task that we were asked to do. Nonetheless, there was time for questions throughout the two days, and the staff were otherwise supportive.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As the scheme is a personal and professional development scheme, I believe that it will assist my career as a whole rather than specifically my degree studies. The list of competencies that PwC have listed, and the networking sessions provided, should assist me in future insight/job opportunities and applications.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • 3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very relaxed and my colleagues and PwC staff were friendly and approachable throughout the two days. Initially many participants were more nervous because they felt that the days were assessed, but as this turned out not to be the case, the scheme felt far less competitive and relaxed.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The networking dinners with PwC staff and the PwC Professional competencies sessions were very helpful in getting to know more about what working at PwC is like, the skills required to succeed in PwC, and the background/culture of people that worked there. There was a variety of PwC staff, from associates to directors, and thus a range of experiences were represented.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was quite useful, by outlining what Assurance entails and describing the steps I would need (i.e. the ACA) to become a qualified member of the field. By demonstrating the culture of professional firms, and giving me insight into the field, the insight also enabled me to see whether Assurance is for me and whether I am ready to pursue this as a future career.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They had a relaxed environment and people were overall approachable and willing to talk.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there appears to be a wide range of activities, from sport to socials.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend. The scheme is particularly useful as a 'spring-board' for a summer internship in the following year, and thus a relatively 'short' two-day scheme can bring great benefits in terms of career potential. The insight is also prestigious and would look very good on a CV, and we were given a wide range of goodies!
