About You
really enjoyable insight into the firm, opportunity to learn about the chosen service line, network with pwc professionals as well as fellow 西瓜视频s. included a fun debating activity within groups, as well as information sessions on the pwc professional values and competencies across which applicants are assessed
everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming into the firm, particularly compared to other insight schemes I've taken part in at other Big Four firms. there was an extra emphasis on personal development and individual needs which stood out to me as an applicant.
the debating group activity was largely left up to us as a group and as individuals in order to the research and preparation, although a small information and advice pack was included. there was a little bit of disorganisation and miscommunication regarding the logistics of the debate
the skills we developed were largely related to future career prospects and recruitment processes more so than academic and degree disciplines. despite this i felt the information we received and skills we developed was certainly going to be useful in future applications
The Company
the structure was well outlines and clearly communicated to us both at the beginning of the two days and during the insight.there was sufficient time to learn about the firm, your chosen service line, and network with the pwc professionals attending. the programme was jam-packed with activities but never felt too intense or overwhelming.
the general atmosphere during the insight was relatively informal and friendly despite the rather grand setting, and was certainly more enjoyable and relaxed than other Big Four insight schemes I have attended. the fellow 西瓜视频s themselves were all genuinely friendly and nice people which was refreshing.
seeing as this was only a two-day experience there was little genuine opportunity for the firm to invest in our personal training and development, but we certainly got the impression that pwc itself, once you join, places a large emphasis on ensuring this takes place within a longer placement or graduate role
the line of service session particularly gave us a realistic and, i think, honest insight into the roles we were applying for, in terms of day-to-day tasks required as well as the more general company culture and environment we would experience. the rest of the insight scheme was less so as it was focused on other things
i certainly felt as though i have come away from the two day insight scheme with a much better understanding of pwc's culture itself, as a friendly, welcoming but high performing firm within the professional services industry. the opportunity to meet and network with many of the firm's professionals definitely added to this
the scheme provided information regarding only the service line we had applied for, and so if, like me, an applicant was not exactly sure which department or role i'd eventually like to join, this might have restricted our choice and freedom somewhat - i would have liked to have maybe 2 or 3 choices in terms of lines of service, so i could receive information on multiple departments
Everything Else
we were reimbursed travel expenses but not paid to attend. however the two-day residential included accommodation and food in a lovely hotel, as well as free drinks and vouchers as prizes!
yes. we had both formal and informal opportunities to meet and network with members of pwc, right through from associate to senior associate, manager, director, partner and even lead partner level. there was a general variety of employees coming from different areas of the firm too which was refreshing
we had two free drinks vouchers before the partner and director dinner, as well as networking opportunities over coffee, so i would say that for a two day scheme there were many networking and social event opportunities, certainly compared to other big four insight schemes that i personally have attended in the past
this was an area in which the insight scheme placed less emphasis, and for this reason i feel as though i did not find out about extra curricular activities as much as may have been ideal. there was no explicit mention of societies or sports teams available at the firm which would have been important and useful for me personally as maintaining a work life balance and life outside of work
i would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. i had a fantastic, stimulating and busy two days which felt like a much longer experience. i came away having learned a decent amount about the firm and the role i applied for. the only thing i would have liked is the opportunity to learn more about the other departments within the company, as i am not 100% sure about my career choice yet
