About You
Very much so. We were in a hotel in Chalfont and Latimer, with lovely rooms and picturesque views. It was great to meet fellow 西瓜视频s and learn more about the firm not only through presentations but also meeting, dining and networking with partners. It was also great to have team projects similar to real life scenarios and then present findings in a competition.
Considering it was a spring insight week there is no responsibility as it is more of an opportunity to learn and ask questions. The firm do treat us really well and make us feel valued. The rooms and dinners were great and also free drinks at the bar. The networking events were great and partners were open and honest when answering our questions.
HR were there through out helping us and advising us. We were given information about the firm as a whole, the culture and the values. We were also given information about individual divisions and were able to ask questions about them.
Some of the main skills we learnt were team working, presenting and networking. This skills are great in general life. After learning about these skills we were able to put them into practise with evening networking events and also working on team projects and then presenting out findings.
The Company
Incredibly well structured. Each day had a clear structure and layout with timings and we stuck closely to these timings. This allowed us to understand what we were meant to be doing each day.
Extremely enjoyable and happy atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and curious to learn more about PwC. I feel the atmosphere of the insight day would reflect that of working at the firm. An atmosphere of enjoyment, motivation and team work in order to thrive.
I feel this entire event was a form of investment in a 西瓜视频 just joining university. We were given accommodation and food during our visit and were taught a great deal about PwC. I believe if the firm looks after you as a 1st Year 西瓜视频, I can only imagine the level of investment in employees would grow once you join the firm.
While we learnt a lot about the firm, it鈥檚 divisions and culture this was predominantly through presentations and networking events. This, I can imagine, would be very different to an office environment. For a start we were all in the same boat, where as in an office there would be various colleagues in different positions and this would create a different atmosphere. Also we were under no pressures where as in the office environment there would be multiple projects with rigorous deadlines.
I believe the culture of the firm was reflected through this Talent Academy. Speaking on a first hand basis to PwC employees and partners I learned a lot about the enjoyable and supportive culture of the firm. But I believe there would be a lot more to learn about the culture if we were actually situated in a PwC office.
Very much so. This was a great opportunity to learn a lot about the firm, ask questions and get open and honest answers. There were a number of presentations about the application process with tips on how to get a job at PwC in the future. This opportunity is a great way to help pick if professional services is for you and if PwC is the best out of the Big 4 to match your skill set and culture preferences.
Everything Else
Covered for food and accommodation and also travel experiences reimbursed.
This was potentially the most valuable part of the Talent Academy. Meeting graduates and partners to learn more about the firm from a first hand basis. It was great to learn from the partners about opportunity to grow and develop through to a senior role at PwC. The graduates had valuable tips on the recruitment process and the choice and support for professional qualifications.
Every evening there was a social event, whether this was dining with the partners or drinks with fellow 西瓜视频s. The hotel was in a lovely locations with areas for socialising with pool tables and tv鈥檚 near the bar. This was important to start building a network and learn more about people you may be working with going forward in your career.
Yes. During the presentations we learnt a lot about the CSR initiatives at PwC and also about social activities such as Football that employees could get involved in. It was also interesting to learn about opportunities that are unique to PwC such as hosting a pantomime which primary school children are then given free tickets to watch.
Definitely. Having spoken to friends that attended other insight events, PwC stands out. The opportunity to meet the partners was the biggest stand out factor but it was also the whole structure of the event and how the great treatment we received from the HR team. It is something I would definitely recommend to learn more, not only about PwC, but the professional services environment in general.
