The Role
Really enjoyable year - challenging but interesting work, and great people.
My department definitely made me feel valued and like I was part of the team.
Able to ask for support whenever needed. Also had a good network of placement 西瓜视频s to share and discuss any issues with.
Always busy, but had weekly meetings with my manager to discuss my workload so she knew if I had the capacity to take more tasks on or not.
This was largely up to me - I started with low responsibility, but after discussing that I wanted to take on more responsibility and had proved my capabilities I was able to do this and began to lead on projects, train others and give presentations etc.
Skills developed were not directly related to my degree, but I knew that this would be the case when I applied. Still developed many "soft skills" which will be very useful after university such as giving presentations, networking, communication skills etc.
The Company
As I was based in a regional office (smaller and less people than the London offices) there was a good office atmosphere as many people knew each other. There were regular team socials and occasional office-wide social events too.
My team hadn't had a placement 西瓜视频 before but were flexible in supporting me to get what I wanted out of the placement year. This suited me well as although they had planned some tasks for me, I had flexibility in this and was able to jump into the aspects of the placement that most interested me.
Some training and development if you ask for it and can justify it.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Offered a job on the Consulting Graduate Scheme.
The Culture
Yes - frequent socials with both my team and the placement 西瓜视频s (e.g. both lunches and evening socials)
Based in Manchester - definitely cheaper than London!
Lots of bars, pubs and clubs in Manchester city centre.
