    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • A terrific opportunity for me to shadow female leaders in the workplace at a top accounting firm. I was able to attend client site at huge institutions in London in financial services, some of whom are hundreds of years old. This was great for myself as It was a totally different sector and industry and thus type of experience than when I worked for EY, and so was invaluable for my personal development.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I thought that PwC, and in particular the partner that I was shadowing, made me feel incredibly valued. I was treated with the utmost of respect and was allowed to sit in at some incredibly important meetings and conference calls which was great for myself as I had not had any experience with this in any other job positions prior to this. I was treated as an equal which felt incredible as I am only a 西瓜视频, amongst partners and directors.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a great deal of support and guidance during my insight. Primarily because the insight was so short, I wasn't able to do a great deal of real work but was mostly just shadowing and listening and taking in as much as possible. However, with any work that I was asked to complete, the guidance and support that I received was exemplary and I would believe that this is the norm for PwC.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In part again due to the short time frame of the insight week, I wasn't able to really develop skills per se but it was more the experiences that I took away from the insight which will help me in my degree studies and beyond. I was given a great insight into the financial services industry, primarily of investment & asset management, and insurance, which will help me in my studies with regards to giving real life examples in exam and presentation situations.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. Throughout the week, I never had nothing to do. If I wasn't shadowing a partner, I would be in a conference call or out on client site with senior managers and directors, or participating in meetings with internal groups on such matters as equality and diversity promotion, which was fantastic for myself as I am Sikh and so this was very relevant to myself.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was terrific - everybody was friendly and willing to talk about their experiences and I was even able to sit down and have coffee with a colleague who worked in Forensics, which is an area that greatly interests me alongside audit assurance. It was clear that the people who worked for PwC greatly enjoyed themselves and the work they do and there was a family feel to things.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I initially attended a PwC Talent Academy, which I was successful in and offered an internship role for the following summer. However, I was not able to fulfil this as I had prior commitments. PwC however seemed keen to take me on in some role though so offered me a Women In Business position instead, indicating to me that the company had invested a great deal in myself and my development and wanted to maintain contact and links with me as they believed that I fit the firm and its image.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Owing to the short time span of the insight week, I wasn't able to take part in a great deal of actual work and was mostly spending my time with the elite of the firm - that is, the partners, directors and senior managers. Therefore, if I were to join in the position of a graduate, I would not be greatly aware of what I would be doing initially at PwC - though I did complete a separate internship in audit so I wouldn't be completely unaware.

    2/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Greatly helped me to understand the company culture. PwC is very big on diversity, equality and inclusiveness and I witnessed this firsthand from attending meetings about promotion of Africa and its people, as well as the promotion of women in business owing to the fact that 99% of the people I worked with were female and/ or BME. The company culture was one which I greatly enjoyed and speak highly of.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I already knew that I wanted to work in audit assurance for a big 4 accounting firm - this insight was purely to see which big 4 company that I wished to work for. I thought that my decision would be easy from a prior internship. However, this insight greatly swayed my mind and though I did not accept a graduate role, it was a very difficult decision for me to make.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid around 拢9 an hour for 35 hours of work.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • A big part of my insight placement was networking and meeting as many different people in the firm as possible - I made the most of this by attending an event with newly promoted partners and directed, where I was able to mingle and speak about their experiences with them and why they chose PwC and stayed so long.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I had one big opportunity in the week - celebratory drinks - and minor ones during work.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. Primarily based around equality due to the placement that I was undertaking.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 100%. It was a great experience for myself and I was able to get a graduate job offer out of it, therefore I believe that it is incredibly worthwhile to take part in and would recommend it without a shadow of a doubt.
