    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I certainly enjoyed the fact that it really introduced me to what working at PwC is like on a day-to-day basis. My mentor schedules numerous meeting and call conferences with people working across many areas within PwC Consulting and across all positions. I have also spent my week at three different clients. It allowed me to network and learn a lot and get different perspective on PwC as a company, its culture and employees, as well as clients.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very welcomed by everyone in the company, starting from the receptionist all the way to the partner I met. I was given various responsibilities during my time and they very much varied depending on the day, but included proofreading, helping out with the presentation, making analysis of survey results. After the completion of the tasks I was given valuable feedback and everyone was very thankful despite the fact that I don鈥檛 think my contribution was very significant.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • My mentor was very helpful through the week and I could always call and ask her about anything that I was not sure about, especially that I spent my time in few different teams working for different clients and she was not always present. I had many opportunities to talk to people working in PwC and they were always happy to answer any questions I had. Even after the end of my time at PwC, I stayed in touch with people I met, so the support extended beyond the insight week. It is also worth to mention that my mentor gave me a prep interview session, so that I coul ace the partner interview at the end of the week. It worked!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I do not think there was much skills I have learned, because one week is not enough time to do so and the work I was given was quite basic, so actually soft skills essential at university helped me at PwC. However, the knowledge and the feeling I got about the firm definitely shaped my perspective on what I would like to do in my future professional career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was not very structured, but it was not chaotic either. Every day was a chance to meet different people, teams, clients, etc. and there was never any time that I was bored, because there was nothing to do. On the evening before, I always received an email from my mentor with a general plan for the next day and she often asked me about what I would like to do or learn. She then planned accordingly.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The majority of people were very welcoming, positive and open, but there few exceptions. Maybe they had a bad day or mood, but still I felt like they were forced to take care of me or talk to me and it was an effort. I understand, it is a corporate environment and they come to work to do the work and not spend time talking to an intern, who is there just for a week, but I was disappointed. These few situations, cannot however overshadow the great atmosphere I had encounter in PwC office and in teams working at the clients.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was happy with the money I have received for my time at PwC, especially that I was not really working. The only issue I have is that the money covers a standard working week, while I was spending definitely more time at the company, because that was the general expectation.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were countless opportunities to meet people and talk to them. My mentor really stresses the importance of networking and scheduled many meetings for me to attend to the extend that at the end of the week I had no more topics to talk about, because I felt like I already know everything. I am really glad that she did it, because it was a good way to get a full perspective on what PwC is like.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • No, I did not, but I was not particularly interested in this area, especially considering that I was there only for a week and had more crucial questions to ask. Also when I was preparing for the initial interview, I research the corporate social responsibility actions in PwC, so I have already known that that can be a potential area to have fun with colleagues from work, if someone is interested in it.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, especially for people who are not sure what they would like to do in the future, because PwC is a very diverse place with opportunities available for people from all backgrounds. For me it was important factor, because I would like to work in a place where I can combine my subject with a business perspective.
