About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the day! It was great being able to meet Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs from other universities and employers of BP on their graduate scheme, who have recently finished a degrees. It was interesting being out to hear about their experiences.
I felt quite valued as if BP gave us important information on technical interviews and assessment centres to help us when applying for internships with them and other companies.
We received excellent guidance and support as BP ran technical interview and assessment centre workshops to give as a taster of what would be expected in these situations. We were given valuable feedback on our responses so we can build on our skills for when we have real technical interviews or assessment centres.
The skills I gained, I believe, will be skills for life. The help they gave in the technical interview workshop and assessment centre workshop will not only help when applying to BP for an internship, but also other companies.
The Company
The insight day involved talks from employees on the graduate scheme, a tour of BP's facilities and technical interview and assessment centre workshops. At no point in the day where we bored with nothing to do.
The general atmosphere was great. The positivity shown by the BP staff transferred over to the Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs, helping us work together on our assessment centre task and showing us what it would really be like to work for BP.
With the workshops in a technical interview assessment centre, I feel like BP did invest a lot in us as scholars. We spent most of the afternoon working on these skills so that BP could help us when applying for internships, even if for a different company.
We had several 'day in the life' talks which gave us an insight into what employees of BP experience in their jobs, which I feel has aided my decision of what field I would like to go in to once I have finished my degree.
I feel I already knew a little about BP and their values and the insight day reinforced these views.
I feel the day has reinforced my aims for the future once I finish my degree, such as what field I would like to work it and what sort of company I would like to work for.
Everything Else
I have been provided with a reimbursement form and will be sending this off within the next few days.
We had the opportunity to network and meet other employees over lunch but I feel perhaps a set time to network may have been useful, other than over lunch.
I feel I could have gained more from the networking and social aspects of the day had we been warned prior to lunch that this would be one of the only opportunities.
Not really but as everything is crammed into one day I feel like this would have been less significant compared to some of the other information we found out.
Yes I will definitely recommend this to a friend as I feel it opens your eyes to the world of work which you can't really experience whilst at university.
