About You
Gave a lot of information about the company, different roles available and advice and tips on completing applications
They had clearly put effort into running the day and getting current employees to come along and talk about what they do, so seemed like they were keen
Was very helpful to talk to HR about the application process Was able to practice interview questions in small groups Was able to talk to people currently on their graduate programme about how they are finding it
Definitely helped to know the sort of things they are looking for when I apply to an internship Made me realise the wide range of jobs available at BP, which were different to those I would initially think of
The Company
Generally well structured but small amounts of waiting around unsure what we were supposed to be doing next
Good, all BP employees seemed more than happy to help and answer any questions, were made to feel welcome and shown where everything we would need is. Had some activities as well as just receiving information so the day was enjoyable
A lot - gave advice not only about BP but also about the oil and gas industry in general. Were happy to give interview and assessment centre advice
A lot through getting to talk to current employees and visit their site
Learnt a lot about the companies values and how important safety is and how to link this to answers in interview/ application questions
Found out about other jobs at BP as well as those linked directly to engineering, and ways that people change between roles and end up in roles different to their degree.
Everything Else
Lunch provided, travel expenses to the site provided, received free BP hoodie
Yes - a lot of chance to talk with HR and other employees who came in over lunch to network with us
