    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was really fun, informative and useful! I had an exam the next day but I am very happy I went. I also loved the freebies! (especially the hoodie).

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The BP Discovery Day team are extremely welcoming and helpful. One of the things that really pleased me was that they called two taxis to take us to the stations we were leaving from at the end of the day. Even though we could have ordered our own taxi and then reclaim the cost, it was really nice of them to do it without us asking, despite the taxis arriving late.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • All the staff members that gave talks or took us on tours were very welcoming, answered all our questions. The sessions about the internship application process and the interview skills were extremely useful and I received very helpful advice.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The information about the internship application process and the Graduate Recruitment Scheme was really useful in terms of helping me be prepared when the time comes for applying. The interview practice session helped me gain some very useful advice about how to prepare for an interview, as well as insight into what employers are looking for.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was an ice breaker session, a few talks by current employees, lunch, a tour and a few more talks before the interview practice and application processes sessions. Overall well structures. The length of the tour was nice, though the group I was in was a bit late so missed one of the talks.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Friendly and fun. It was really nice meeting other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs from different unis and backgrounds. Really great day.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They divided us into small groups of 3 and we had interview sessions where the interviewer as well as the two other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs provided feedback on my performance and advice (which was very useful).

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Everyone there is really happy to be there and love their jobs! Some of the people who talked to us have been working there for 30+ years and some just started.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was obvious how everyone lives by the BP values in all aspects. I really liked that environment.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very interesting to see how some of the employees changed careers over the years and shows how BP gives a chance to its staff to grow. The Energy Game we played also gave me a lot of insight into the predictions regarding how the use of different types of energy sources will change over time, giving me a better idea of the fields that will be more dominant in the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I will be reimbursed for my train and they paid for the taxi they ordered for us at the end of the day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • A lot of employees gave talks about their jobs and answered our questions and we had a chance to talk to them more personally during lunch.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Talking to employees on a more personal basis and networking happened mainly during lunch. It was a friendly environment and all my questions were answered (the food was also really nice).

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, they talked to us about their hobbies and how some of them decided to work part time for several years to bring up their children.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely yes.
