About You
It was really fun, informative and useful! I had an exam the next day but I am very happy I went. I also loved the freebies! (especially the hoodie).
The BP Discovery Day team are extremely welcoming and helpful. One of the things that really pleased me was that they called two taxis to take us to the stations we were leaving from at the end of the day. Even though we could have ordered our own taxi and then reclaim the cost, it was really nice of them to do it without us asking, despite the taxis arriving late.
All the staff members that gave talks or took us on tours were very welcoming, answered all our questions. The sessions about the internship application process and the interview skills were extremely useful and I received very helpful advice.
The information about the internship application process and the Graduate Recruitment Scheme was really useful in terms of helping me be prepared when the time comes for applying. The interview practice session helped me gain some very useful advice about how to prepare for an interview, as well as insight into what employers are looking for.
The Company
There was an ice breaker session, a few talks by current employees, lunch, a tour and a few more talks before the interview practice and application processes sessions. Overall well structures. The length of the tour was nice, though the group I was in was a bit late so missed one of the talks.
Friendly and fun. It was really nice meeting other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs from different unis and backgrounds. Really great day.
They divided us into small groups of 3 and we had interview sessions where the interviewer as well as the two other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs provided feedback on my performance and advice (which was very useful).
Everyone there is really happy to be there and love their jobs! Some of the people who talked to us have been working there for 30+ years and some just started.
It was obvious how everyone lives by the BP values in all aspects. I really liked that environment.
It was very interesting to see how some of the employees changed careers over the years and shows how BP gives a chance to its staff to grow. The Energy Game we played also gave me a lot of insight into the predictions regarding how the use of different types of energy sources will change over time, giving me a better idea of the fields that will be more dominant in the future.
Everything Else
I will be reimbursed for my train and they paid for the taxi they ordered for us at the end of the day.
A lot of employees gave talks about their jobs and answered our questions and we had a chance to talk to them more personally during lunch.
Talking to employees on a more personal basis and networking happened mainly during lunch. It was a friendly environment and all my questions were answered (the food was also really nice).
Yes, they talked to us about their hobbies and how some of them decided to work part time for several years to bring up their children.
Definitely yes.
