About You
The discovery day was engaging and helpful. The roles of employees in the company were clearly explained and tips for the graduate and internship scheme given.
The discovery day isnt intended to in any way make the you fell like an employee, but is used to attract potential employees; they value applicants.
The graduate and internship scheme is clearly explained, many employees are presnet to share their experiences. Mock interviews were given which is excellent practice.
A great deal of advice is given in the mock interviews which are conducted by people who actually interview for the company. Although this may sound daunting its all vey relaxed and light hearted.
The Company
Information on the end of the day could have been clearer. In one email I was told it would finish at 16:30 however in others it was 17:30. For reference of others it is 17:30. Otherwise it was all very clear.
Those leading the session were happy and upbeat but not overly enthusiastic. Due to the early travel that was required for some of us who attended the event there was a little drowsiness, but as is the nature of a Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ.
It should be noted this was only an insight day (discovery day) and wasnt about investing but showing us how the company works and its employees roles.
Fully. Petroleum and reservoir engineering and geoscience roles were explained in depth with talks and a few more interactive sessions.
The values of the company were set out clearly as well as future projects. Current employees were friendly and happy to talk about their roles in the company.
Very, I came to a clear decision about what I would want to do with in the company having started with just a vague idea.
Everything Else
BP promised to reimbure all travel expenses and provided a lunch.
Yes employees of all the relevant disciplines were present as well as interns to explain their roles.
Very relaxed and easy to engage with, made informal by hosting alongside the lunch buffet.
Briefly mentioned in an intern presentation, I wouldnt regard this as too important.
To anyone unsure about what they want to do with a chemical enginering degree yes, I found it very useful.
