About You
The BP discovery day was an amazing opportunity to really understand how the BP business operation in Aberdeen works on a day to day basis. It was really good fun with a lot of interactive activities to gain a knowledge about energy and also a great opportunity to meet other people.
Greatly valued, we were a small group and we were working with senior staff at the company. For every 5 people there was a senior staff member from BP chatting with us and sharing his experience
There was a great interactive session about interview process during applications for internships at BP. They explained how graduates can enter the company and move up the ranks
It was great general knowledge to really understand how the oil is found using the data provided by geologists and also how the reservoir engineers and the petroleum engineers use that data to extract as much oil as possible
The Company
The insight was very well structure with a full day fully planned out and all expenses paid to get there, and two event organisers made sure that everything went as planned
There was a formal element to day, with a business dress code and people were extremely serious, but the presenters try to convey a relaxed atmosphere by joking and smiling and sharing their personal experiences in terms of developing themselves in the framework of a BP career.
They provided excellent training in terms of gaining skills for interview processes and how to deal with assessment centers
This day helped me understand what the business model of BP is and how they function in terms of the roles in each member in different teams had. It was a great insight of how day to day work there works
They made sure to outline the key values of BP that are the requirement of hard work and a winning culture...
It showed me really how the work of these people everyday affects millions... in terms of energy the future is not clear and these people are working hard to make sure the world has a clear energy future. I realised how crucial that role is in society
Everything Else
I was reimbursed my travel expenses
Yes , senior staff came down to lunch and we had a chat with them and they spoke about their experiences
Real relaxed with a great deal of detail about their day to day work
No but they mentioned how much BP values self development
yes absolutely it's a great experience for anyone interested in the oil and gas industry, you gain a lot of knowledge and insight into how these companies work and that is a great advantage that set you out when you apply for graduate schemes
