About You
I really like the fact that Discovery Days enabled me to be on real oil/gas manufacture site.
Discovery Day enabled me to talk with professionals but also be treated in a professional way. Having the cost of the travelling and accomodation covered, I didn't need to worry about the distance from home to Hull, where the Discovery Day was organised. The event was organised in a really professional manner.
Although my university degree did not match perfectly with the type of sector of BP I was doing an insight in, the way all the processes were explained did not make me feel left behind. There was a variety of different speakers when it comes to their experience and technical knowledge, what helped to get learn more about BP from various perspectives.
I think that the insight definitely helped me to understand the Downstream part of oil/gas industry, but also the preparation for the application process for the internships. Although my degree is not very related to the sector, the general knowledge and the skills developed will definitely help in the future.
The Company
The insight had a good time-plan and we sticked to it throughout, enabling me to really learn lot about the sector, the site and the company itself.
I really like the fact that we were a relatively small group therefore everyone could ask all the questions we had and we could cooperate together in smaller groups. Everyone was really friendly, I really liked it!
All the activiteis were rather done in a group, and were more focused on the insight to the sector rather than skills workshop, however I think they were helpful.
Especially having a talk from the graduates, as well as senior role position people.
We could see from the personal stories of the employees that the company culture does strongly exist and is visible in the way they perform the work.
I think it makes me even more inclined to work for BP.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for the travel, hotel and accommodation with food was booked and paid for me.
Yes, in a form of the networking lunch.
I like the general atmosphere during the networking time, which allowed us to talk with the employees in a really informal manner.
We could hear about how is the life in Hull and the life-work balance, which is really well-organised in BP.
Definitely. It allows to see hands-on experience of the employees and being on the site, which is generally rare for the engineering companies.
