About You
The presenters who delivered the event were brilliant. They were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and managed teach new material while keeping things fun and entertaining.
Everyone I have met from BP has been extremely friendly. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome.
There was always information presented on the tasks we had to do and there were lots of opportunities to ask questions.
We were taught the basics behind exploration and production in the oil and gas industry. This insight is very helpful in deciding what career path to take.
The Company
Everything fitted well together and ran to time. There was a good variety of different challenges and the event was made to feel very realistic involving a complex simulation model.
A lot of aspects were fun and entertaining and this was balanced nicely as more serious material was occasionally delivered to the group .
BP provided an excellent training course with very experienced presenters.
As part of the course we were taught how to use a sophisticated computer program which simulated each stage of the energy and production business. In addition to this many BP employees gave presentations outlining their roles and responsibilities at the company.
By hearing from and talking to a large number of BP employees I understood what they and the company holds as values. It seems that the company does the best it can for its employees in terms of both opportunities and development in their work and on the socially.
The content was extremely helpful as it showed the types of jobs and responsibilities in the upstream side of production.
Everything Else
BP were generous in providing expenses for travel, accommodation and all food and drink at the event venue was paid for.
Many BP employees were around over the few days and there were plenty of opportunities to talk to them and ask questions.
Before the "Investors Dinner" on the final night there was a drinks reception which was great time to chat to BP employees.
BP seem to place importance on the social side of working at the company. All the employees that gave presentations on their experience at the company described trips they had been on and sports clubs/groups they could get involved with.
Definitely, I found this event both good fun and informative. There were many opportunities to find out about the company and the kind of jobs available with them. Everyone involved were friendly and approachable.
