About You
It was thoroughly enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking a career in Oil and Gas.
The BP team always makes the Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs feel most welcome. This really helps the Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs to feel part of BP and it allows them to get the most out of their experience.
I was given much support during this experience. This experience gave me an insight into what BP look for from applicants, how to better my chances of obtaining a job with BP, and this experience also helped my overall understanding and knowledge of the oil and gas sector.
The skills I developed from taking part in this event will help me to better myself beyond university the most. As this event was focused on mixed engineering disciplines, there was no real insight into a specific discipline that would allow me to improve my studies at university. However, a lot of skills I learned at this event will benefit me in the future. Many of the roles which I can get involved in after graduation were discussed and I definitely think that my knowledge of the oil and gas sector has increased, hence why I believe this event has better prepared me for the future as I hope to work in the oil and gas industry.
The Company
As with all BP events, the structure was impeccable and the event had clearly been planned well in advance. This really helps the attendees to get the most out of their experience and makes the attendees feel important i.e. that BP took this event seriously and it was for my own benefit.
Atmosphere was good and everyone was very friendly yet professional. Everyone was very approachable and I didn’t feel intimidated when speaking with any of the senior figures at BP, they were most welcoming and very engaging to talk to.
It is hard to say exactly how much they invested, however, you can tell that BP takes it’s recruitment process very seriously so holding events like this helps to get more people involved with BP and therefore more people will be inclined to apply for BP.
This event gave a very interesting insight into what it would be like to have a full time job with BP as an engineer. We were given a talk from recent graduates and a senior figure within BP – All who specialised in different disciplines of engineering. This was very useful and it gave me a real taste of what to expect if I were to be a full time engineer working at BP. Hearing first-hand from BP employees on what they do in their job only encouraged me even more to apply for a job at BP. Their jobs sounded so fascinating, challenging and interesting.
I have attended and been part of other BP events in the past and this event was another reminded of the culture within BP. The company thrives on moving the game forward in development terms, and BP truly does live and breathe by its values - Safety, One Team, Respect, Courage, Excellence.
I would have given this sector a 10/10 had I already not decided on my future career path as it was so informative, however, from my other experiences in the energy environment, particularly with BP, I already knew that I wanted to work for BP in the oil and gas sector. This day only helped to further enhance my excitement, passion and enthusiasm to work for BP within the oil and gas sector.
Everything Else
My travel costs were reimbursed
There were plenty of opportunities to speak with BP employees as everyone at the event each delivered a short, but very detailed presentation on what they do. There was also an opportunity to speak with them face to face during lunch.
The networking events were good, although I would have like it even better had we been given longer during the lunch break to speak with them.
Yes, each person who gave us a presentation on their job within BP also gave us a flavour of what they can get involved in outside of work. This focuses on the value of One Team and I can see how it would help to create a real unity between staff. It also shows that BP values staff’s working experience and they should enjoy their work at all times.
Yes, it was a fantastic experience. The day passed so quickly and I will definitely be attending more of these events in the future.
