About You
It was a really interesting and informative day, and good fun too. Definitely worth doing as they pay your transport, so there is no reason not too!
Hard to say if you felt valued as it was only a day, but all the staff were really friendly and easy to talk to.
This isn't a hugely relevant question for a day programme, but listening to the graduates and people who had done internships it sounds like if you did a longer programme BP give plenty of support.
Again as it was only a day I didn't gain new skills, but I did learn a lot about the company and graduate programs.
The Company
It was well structured, morning involved a few talks from employees and graduates on their Challenger programme, followed by a chance to talk to them over lunch. Then the afternoon included tours of the labs in Sunbury.
Lovely atmosphere, everyone was friendly and chatty. I enjoyed talking to some of the graduates and the other university Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs with similar interests.
Can't really say anything to this as it was only a day programme.
The initial talks were from employees who had been there 30+ years and they told you about their career to give an insight into having a job there.
Talking to the people on the Challenger programme the company culture seems very friendly. There are plenty of opportunities for training and developing your skills even once in a job.
Very helpful, I'm doing a geology degree and really wasn't sure what career path I want to go down, but a career in the energy (oil) industry seemed a definite possibility after that day.
Everything Else
Paid for all travel and organised it through another company. I think they even paid for a hotel if it was too far to travel in a day.
Good chance over lunch to meet employees and graduates.
As good as you can have in a day. Time before it began, at the end and over lunch. All staff were very approachable.
Graduates were very enthusiastic about activities outside work! Mentioned Flexi-Fridays so sometimes getting the Friday off.
100% worth doing, only a day of your time and you learn a lot. Plus it costs you nothing. Good insight to say if a future application for an internship/graduate programme would be worthwhile.
