The Role
A great experience to enhanceboth practical and technical knowledge. A brilliant company to work for.
Everyone in the team really welcomed me and made a concious effort to make me feel welcome. Generally colleagues, despite their rank, would go out of thee way to help me.
I was given primary control over where to take the project. When I needed suppot all I had to do was ask.
Good working hours with the flexi Friday (every other Friday off). There was a good amount of time to finish the project and a good number of meetings to break up the day. There was enough time to attend meetings that maybe weren't directly relevant to my project allowing me see how other departments and team work.
I was given responsibility for where I took my project. I was given a half page brief and then it was my responsibility to investigate the potential solutions to the problem given to me.
We were given lots of training. I attended a half day presantation skills session which provided some useful feedback. BP also have very good access to other sources of training, whether that is online tests available on IPIMS, or through one on one white board sessions with my mentor.
The Company
The department I worked in, Wells, was a great place to be based. Most people are very passionate about there job and we were given opportunitiesto mix as a team. This included an away day at an outdoor activites center.
Generally good. I was promptly notified after progressing to the next stage of each assessment round.
The resources needed to complete work were all available, as was training and development if needed.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing!
The Culture
Most people live the same university halls in Aberdeen so there was a great social scene amoung interns including plenty of nights out.
The cost of living in Aberdeen is above average. Taxis and accomodation are both expensive.
Very good. Good selection from Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ night clubs to cocktail bars.
5 a side football was arranged twice a week as were other activites.
