The Role
Great people, amazing location and a fun project which kept me interested throughout the internship
Lovely community feel in the office and lab. They chatted with me and listened to my input.
Huge amount of support available from both my manager / team and also from a buddy and mentor outside of my team. Helped me on both technical projects and general site information.
I could structure my time how I liked, and I was given an outline of a lab project to work on which was more than enough to keep me busy through the internship. There were team meetings and training classes to add a bit of structure as well.
I was given complete responsibility for my own project, with my manager just checking how it was going every few days. I was allowed to work in the lab by myself, purchase items for the team or my project on expenses etc.
Learn about the commercial side of reaserch, some technical lab skills and also general office and interpersonal skills. Additionally I had training both technical and general, and gave presentations, which again is a really valuable experience.
The Company
The atmosphere was very relaxed in the office and we had great fun down in the lab with music and chatting as well as helping eachother with the work
very organised, the project and induction was laready set up in advance, even with a timetable of everything I was doing for the first 2 weeks.
Great training classes on all the different departments around teh site to give a good fundamental understanding. Individual presentations to take me through the industry background and one on one lab training.

Working from home
I find out in 2 weeks so we'll see! I would love to come back and work for them next year, and I think more than half of interns do. You give a final presentation with questioning and your manager writes and appraisal.
The Culture
4 interns, plus 15 grads, all very sociable so had meals out, film nights, drinks etc.
Most people live in reading so that's pretty cheap.
The site is in the countryside, but Reading is lively
Team outings and self-organised socials to pretty good.
