The Role
It was a great experience overall, with solid technical challenges and a very supportive atmosphere.
My team were fantastic - I was made to feel exceptionally welcome, and I was given a very important project to work on.
My line manager provider direct support on the technical challenges, and there was a mentor system to make sure the internship was smooth sailing from a pastoral point of view.
I had a great work/life balance! I had enough work to keep me busy during the day, yet I was completely free in the evenings and on the weekends to do other things.
I felt valued by the team, as I had a technially important peice of work to do that had a very significant effect on the commercial viabiltiy of the whole project.
The internship was useful in developing analytical skills, and was exceptional in developing soft skills such as communication, networking, and time management.
The Company
The atmosphere was supportive and enjoyable, yet not too distracting. My colleagues were always up for chatting about any issue I wanted to bring up, and were very friendly.
The application process was brilliantly managed by the human resources department, and any admin issues were resolved really quickly. The management was seamless.
I was made to feel very valued, and it was clear that the company had invested a great deal of time and effort in choosing the right candidates.

BP has a great graduate scheme that is highly renowned, which is a great motivation to undertake the internship.
The Culture
The social scene in Sunbury was ok, although organisation was a challenge as the site wasn't that close to central London.
London is relatively expensive, although the internship paid well enough to cover any social expenses without worry.
The business centre in Sunbury does not have any nightlife, although London is within reach.
There were plenty of centrally-organised projects to get involved in, such as shadow schemes, newsletter projects, and video competitions.
