About You
It was helpful but not entirely relevant for what I study so some parts were boring. There were a wide range of activities so things were kept varied and there weren't any prolonged periods which were irrelevant.
The company really made you feel like they wanted you personally to consider them as an employer. Made to feel very welcome and the company made themselves as approachable as possible.
Gave guidance on applications for internships with the company and the graduate program they provide. Gave advice on what they look for in an application and the statistics associated with those who have an internship with BP and then go on to get a job with BP on the graduate scheme.
It was very much orientated for working for BP and therefore the skills weren't very transferable. Helped to guide you on the path you'd need to take if you wanted to work for the company.
The Company
Well structured, there was always something to do, time scheduling was a little bit tight at times. Group would be split into two and on occasion groups would finish at different times leaving one group hanging around.
Good chance to meet new people and work in different teams so it was very varied. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
As it was only an insight the company is not expecting you to sign up for a life long career with them at this point. However they gave you lots of advice on getting into the company and really made it feel like they want you to apply.
The schedule was so full it was difficult to get a feel for any particular role in the company. It gave an overview of what the different roles are and a feel for being on sight.
Very little chance to properly get a feel for the company.
Company provided lots of information on the different career paths in the company and what the different roles are.
Everything Else
BP were very reasonable in paying all expenses incurred but it took a long time for the money to come through.
With limited time there weren't a lot of people we got the chance to talk to. There were question and answer sessions with a long term employee of the company. Graduates on the graduate program and interns dropped in over lunch time.
Limited. There were lots of opportunities to talk to the people in the same situation as yourself, but not so many people within the company to network with.
There was nothing structured to talk about the lifestyle of the employees but there was a small chance over lunch to find out a bit.
Specifically targeted at people taking engineering degrees, so very helpful if you're taking an engineering degree. Not so helpful if you are on another degree course. Absolutely essential if you want to work for BP in the future.
