The Role
It was a very informative Discovery Day. I particularly enjoyed the 3D mapping.
It was very nice of some of the BP employees to come for lunch. It allowed some informal questions and more understanding of how their lives have actually been as BP employees. The people organizing the event were as friendly as they could possibly be. The Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs visiting were all very pleasant too. We went for drinks at the train station on the way back.
I'm not sure how relevant this is to a one day information session. As we had no responsibilities, management wasn't really necessary. The organizers were very informative about what we'd be doing that day, but that is as close as I can come to answering this question.
The day was full. I don't remember any of the talks dragging on too long or spending any time waiting for anything to happen. The event was also scheduled at times to make the commute fairly reasonable.
It was a one day information session. Beyond getting there and back, I had no responsibilities apart from listening and learning.
I think it was a very good information session. Although I have a background in Petroleum Engineering, it was informative about life as an employee of BP, focusing on UK employees. As an American who is studying in Britain, I gained a much better idea of what it would mean to stay here for employment.
The Company
It was a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It was a business casual event. All of the people with BP went out of their way to answer all our questions in full. Several even gave us email addresses if we had questions later.
The whole day was well structured and organized. Everything seemed to go off fairly well.
It was a one day event. There wasn't a lot of time for licensing or training. It was nice of BP to pay for a trip to Aberdeen to let me learn about their company and life in the North Sea.
BP seemed to be a very good company to work for, with global options and interest in developing and keeping employees.
The Culture
We went for drinks after the event, while we were waiting on our trains.
We only went to one pub (Siberia) and it was very reasonable.
I was in Aberdeen from 9 AM to 5 PM. Nightlife never really entered into the equation.
It was only a one day.
