The Role
Enjoyed learning about how the company operated and how staff interacted with one another. Could have done with more things to see while waiting for the meeting to start.
I was welcomed by my intern and introduced to his friends within the company and felt at ease. I didn't really do any significant work to be valued by my collegues.
I met a few senior staff members, who all welcolmed me warmly and explained their role within the department. Most of my support and guidance came from my intern that i was shadowing. His guidance was fab and supported me throughout the day.
After the initial introductions and presentations there wasnt much to do. I was only there from 10am till 4pm and we struggled for things to do before the intern meeting started.
I was given the oppurtunity to look at some data and come up with a hypohesis based on it. I then used this data to prove/disprove the theory. But again this was helped and guided by my intern.
It gave me valuable experience on working in an industry sector. I learnt how to interact with collegues, what would be expected of me if i became and intern and employee, and also what type of computer programs i would be dealing with.
The Company
There was general fun chit chat but as it was an office environment it was a little quiet even though it was 'casual friday'. We had to talk quite quietly.
It was overall a well worked out placement if the meeting would have been on time. As a result of it not being, there was some uncertainty about what to do.
I saw the level of responsibility the intern got and how he was supported through the placement. I would like to think this would help to develop my skills and train me to be a better worker in the oil and gas industry.
Healthcare/Dental
Would love to get the chance to get a full time job within the company but maybe as an outdoor research job rather than office job.
The Culture
I was the only placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ there on the day.
I only stayed for one day so couldnt comment on this. But after listening to collegues its sounds slightly on the expensive side.
I didnt experience any of the nightlife.
Again was only there for the day, so cant comment on this.
