The Role
An interesting structure to the day , where we went to both of the BP North offices, had lunch etc. BP's culture really came across very well.
My assigned partner made me feel very welcome and was friendly throughout , introducing me to everybody that he knew.
I was given interview and CV writing tips by my assigned partner, particularly relating to BP's own internship programme and graduate programme. He also gave me invaluable informations about applying to other sectors.
The day was broken up nicely, and had a good balance of work and play if you like.
Not a massive amount of responsibility was given but then none was really expected as it was a work shadow day.
Even though it was only for a single day , I picked up a lot of valuable information - and I plan to use BP as a case study in various assignments this year.
The Company
Both New Telecoms House and Dyce looked interesting and well eqipped places to work - everybody seemed to get on well.
BP were great in organisation , I was given all expenses forms and instructions before I arrived and my partner gave me various texts to make sure I was on track
Cant really comment on this as it was only for a day.
Subsidised Canteen
Pay and conditions are well above market average within BP and prospects for graduates are very positive , I will consider applying to their graduate programme as a result of this day
The Culture
The interns we were with all got on very well , mainly as they were living with each other and socialised with each other. Senior members of tsaff treated interns as if they were permanent full time members of staff
Aberdeen is more expensive than say Glasgow, but is cheaper than London so 5/10 for this/
Cant really comment on this as only there for a day.
The interns had various social activities planned ranging from night out in Aberdeen but also mountain biking, mountain climbing etc - so a really good mixture to appeal to all.
