The Role
I had a great time over the summer meeting lots of new employees and getting involved in the activities and events that the company put on.
Everybody treats everybody with respect and it does not matter what level you are on, nobody talks down to you and will always check your getting on alright. You build really good relationships with people in such a small amount of time.
My supervisor checked to make sure that I understood work and made sure that I was never bored. I was really impressed by the way that they got me involved in the team from day one and gave me real responsibility.
I never felt too stressed out by work but there was always plenty to get on with. You can imagine a company the size of BP there is always work to be done, you just have to ask.
I was given responsibilty for the way and direction my work went, along with layout and setting my own time deadlines.
This placement really broadened my knowledge of HR and competitive research, as all I had ever experienced before was engineering. I think it is good to be an all rounded person in many areas of life and Im sure these skills will help me to develop in my career.
The Company
The offices are a great place to be there are regular events put on and talks that you can go to during lunchtimes and sometimes even through working hours.
I experienced no problems during the internship.
The company spent a lot of money on me and were very flexible. I also think there a company whom really care and that comes across.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I have started working for them this september. I got offered a place on their graduate scheme.
The Culture
There was always somebody going out and there was a range of socials from the cinema, to meals to nights out. It was great social scene and nobody can fault London.
I had enough money to cover my costs and have fun still, but it is London and London is expensive. Though I never struggled financially.
Its London there are bars and clubs for everyone. I love live music and I certianly went to some great bars to see some great bands.
There are lots of opportunities from sports teams, to staff socials to language courses. Its you know has to decide whether you want to get involved or not.
