The Role
Extremely enjoyable internship. The team were fantastic and made me feel very welcome. The project itself was non-technical, but the flipside is that I was able to develop my 'softer' skills
Very friendly team, were always available to help and give me more work if required!
My actual line manager was often quite busy/out of the office but I received plenty of support from him when he was around, as well as from the rest of the team and my mentor
Would vary day by day. Some days would be quite busy, other days less so, but I'd almost always be able to find something to get on with
Was essentially given full control of the project and left to arrange my own meetings, gather my own information and decide what decisions to make
Largely developed my teamwork, project management and communication skills due to the large number of stakeholders involved with the project
The Company
Pleasant atmosphere, everyone was very friendly and chatty. We'd often grab breakfast/lunch together as well
Internship was extremely organised - desk and laptop were ready on arrival, induction day was run seamlessly
Was sent on training courses (including one run every week attended by the entire team) and was sent on a trip to a hardware supplier to gain an overall appreciation of the form and function of some of the equipment used in the industry. Was given textbooks and books to read in my own time to learn about Oil & Gas and general management/relationship building

BP take on plenty of graduates on the Challenger scheme and provide good training with plenty of scope to move around
The Culture
Many of us lived together in halls in central London and did stuff together most nights and every weekend. For those living on their own/with a couple of others, there were weekly intern nights out organised as well as BP intern/graduate events every few weeks
Central London is expensive, but you do get what you pay for and it was definitely worth it (we ate out a lot and went out to clubs/bars/pubs quite a bit)
Sunbury - Non-existent London - Incredible with plenty of variety, but expensive
BP have many different sports teams (I joined the Tennis Club and the Meadhurst gym, but they have football, squash, badminton, etc etc) and put on several events (Sports Day, BBQ, Dragon Boat Racing)
