The Role
Really interesting work and good fun, people were really friendly and lots of chances to socailise with the other interns.
Everyone treated me like a valued member of the team. People asked my opinion and took my views into account.
My line manager supported me through my project but I was also given the freedom to work independantly and make my own descisions.
Generally I was busy enough to fill up my days. Having my own project meant that I was in charge of my time and how I managed it.
Responisbility of your own project. If you werent doing the work someone else would be so it was important.
Built upon skills learnt in my degree. Chances to take part in other activities such as competitions and presentations to improve other skills. Also recieved training days during the internship.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and got on. People helped each other with work as well as holding social activities.
Very well set up. Good communication from HR throughout and easy to ask if there was a problem.
Training days given. Days offsite to see data. Reviews with line manager throughout to assess progress.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Good chance of getting a job at the end of the internship.
The Culture
I was based in London so lots of places to go out and with 50+ other interns lots of people to go with. BP also organised some intern social events.
London so quite expensive but salary compensates for this.
Poor in the immediate area but good in London and nearby areas.
Easy to organise your own activities outside work as London has lots to do. BP also offer some activites e.g. I went dragonboating and to a BBQ.
