The Role
I really felt like I was doing real work for the business and what I did was making a difference and helping other teams.
I was sat with a different team to the one I was working with so, while they included me in work and conversations, I always felt a little bit left out as we were doing different projects.
My manager never hesitated to help me with any problems I had, even the small, silly ones he'd shown me loads before.
I was quite busy at my desk, which didn't leave a whole lot of time for the other projects the company had given me to do, but it's all about time management I suppose.
I was mostly in charge of myself when given work. It was very much a "work under your own steam" environment, being responsible for my part.
I've really learned how to work with several separate teams all at the same time, juggling priorities and deadlines. I've also learned how to cope with being thrown lots of new systems and things to learn and power on through.
The Company
My own office had a pretty relaxed atmosphere. Provided everyone got their work done, there was always time for a chat or having a bit of craic with coworkers, even those from other teams.
At times it felt a bit disorganised, with schedules getting moved around quite a lot, but overall I felt it was quite well run especially with the amount of interns there were!
I was really just thrown in at the deep end with my team. The company did give us a weeks basic training to bring us up to speed on financial ideas and terms but other than that it was my team members who were doing most of the training!
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I got a job with the company after my internship, which I'm delighted with.
The Culture
It was an OK social scene. We went out a few times but everyone was always tired after a long week in the office.
Expensive on both counts, but not out of this world expensive.
There were quite a few pubs and cocktail bars in and around the office so there was always the option of a quite one or two or to go on a big night out.
There was a football and Cricket league set up for outside work hours.
