The Role
Enjoyable. Learnt a lot, met loads of clever people, made good friends in the internship class
My desk were v welcoming which was cool, but often they left me to find work, meet people and organise rotations on the back of my own initiative
I met with my manager every week to get an update on my progress
I almost always had something to do - either ongoing project work or just bits of work for the desk e.g. morning minutes
I worked in Sales - you can't speak to clients until you are FSA accredited, so ultimatley you cant have much responsibility.
I've learnt a lot about key asset classes: Foreign Exchange, Rates and Credit, which has really set me up well for grad jobs in the financial industry
The Company
There was a summer lull, due to Olympics and August holiday season, but my team have a lot of banter which kept things interesting
Very well organised - had loads of events on, and had a good balance between flexibility and a structured timetable
We had 1 week of training at the start of the internship on basic financial knowledge. I would have like some Excel training too
Company Parties/Events
I'm keen to secure an offer from the organisation, but as is the case with most banks in the industry, you can't look too much into the long term given that business is so cyclical! But I hope the bank will be up and and about for time to come
The Culture
Went out twice a week, went for drinks - loads of events, good stuff
£150 a week - Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ accomodation
You can't beat London nightlife
CSR Challenge for Great Ormond Street BBQ's Drinks and Networking Events Human Resources Assessment Centre projects Sports Events
