    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • So much effort is put in to balance learning and enjoyment, particularly with regards to social activities and networking.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Both teams that I worked with ensured I felt welcome, and I definitely felt part of the team as opposed to just an extra pair of hands.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly meetings with my desk manager where we caught up on how all the work was going, and I was also in regular contact with my line manager throughout the internship.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a good balance of work, in so much that I felt challenged but like I could manage it.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In both rotations, I was given work to do that was used as part of the company's business dealings - it was really motivational knowing that what you were doing was really helping the team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although studying a non-finance related degree, there are a number of skills that I feel I have noticeably developed, most notably time management and team work.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always a naturally excitable atmosphere due to the nature of the work, and the jovial conversations between team members also made work a pleasant and fun place to be.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I would not be able to flaw the organisation of the itnernship - everything was catered for and there was always someone on hand to help you had should any problems arise.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had hourly tutorials twice weekly in which we learnt about a different topic each time that was relevant to our rotation, which definitely made work on the desk more graspable. We also had a week's session at the start of the programme that gave us a broad overview - that was particularly useful on getting everyone up to speed, particularly from a non-finance background perspective.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having spent ten weeks here, I can whole heartedly say that the whole experience was fantastic, and that I would love to have the chance to work here!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • Yes, everyone made the effort to integrate across all programmes, which resulted in making lots of friends! We spent time together outside of work and we will definitely keep up afterwards.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I'd imagine its fairly standard for London.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was fun, and we got some good chances to go out and about after work on Friday's and at the weekend. Being in an area with lots of surrounding offices, the bars were always busy and had a good vibe.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were multiple opportunities - mainly with regards to sport. This included the sports day laid on for interns in which we were put in teams and spent the day in Regents Park, and there are also specific sports teams you can get involved with such as touch rugby and football. The fundraising challenge also provided opportunities to get involved with other interns to raise money - this was lots of fun. Further to this, we had a CSR day in which we helped to build a playground in Islington - that was great fun and was a good opportunity to get to know everyone in a different environment.
