The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working with all the different teams within RBS. The people are friendly and knowledgeable, thus making the work even more enjoyable.
For every piece of work I handed in I received compliments. In addition, for whom ever i did a piece of work, they showed appreciation for my time and effort on helping them.
I have had continuous contact with both my buddy and line-manager. Their advise was taken on board was extremely helpful in maximizing the internship experience.
This differed immensely on my two rotations... In TSO the workflow was more consistent enabling me to better plan my day/week. During my rotation in FI Coverage, I have been exposed to both peaks and trophs regarding business flow. Overall, I believe I have had plenty of work to keep me busy for the duration of the rotation, although sometimes I believe I had capacity to take on more work. However, I was active in seeking work but due to the summer period, I realise the workflow to be less compared to usual.
For the FI Coverage UK Team I managed to get full responsiblity for a model which was incorporated into a pitch. During my TSO sales rotation I was put in charge to set up sector and H1 reviews. These presentations will form the basis (template) for half year and sector reviews in the future. Overall I was given quite a lot of responsibility. I believe my RBS colleagues quickly understood where my strengths lie and thus trusted me to set up models or full presentations for them.
I believe i have developed my practical and technical knowledge, as well as developed as person. In addition, I believe I networked sufficiently through out the internship and set a solid relationship foundation to approach some of the MDs/associates/analysts if the future.
The Company
Good atmosphere on both 4th and 7th floor. The balance between 'bantering' if I could call it that and being serious and getting down to work is good. It provides a relaxed but professional atmosphere which is very pleasant to work in.
Regarding the training and rotations all great. Some minor issues regarding RBS organised accommodation though (known by Claire Elston)
Everyone at RBS was willing to take time to sit and have a chat to explain what it is they do or to have you shadow them to get familiar with the different desks RBS has to offer. Some analysts and my line manager encouraged me to go along to some of the analyst training/discussion sessions which provided additional insight as well as different perspective on some of the material being discussed.

A job at RBS appeals to me greatly, for a number of reasons mentioned in other questions. I believe I have showed the right attitude and presented myself in a professional manner, however the competition amongst interns is very high and it remains to be seen if I receive an offer. I will remain hopefull until D-day!
The Culture
Every week some intern groups would get together for dinner or drinks to socialise and exchange experiences
Regarding socialising there are many opportunities... however the cost of living in London specifically (and especially during the olympic year) is ridiculously high.
there are plenty of places to go for a casual after-work drink and when it turns into an actual night out, there are various bars that turn into clubs which are only a stone throw away from the office. This makes it appealing to go for a cheaky drink...
Its sometimes difficult to find the time to attend them, but there is a broad range offered
